The French talent scored a hat-trick in the Parisian’s 5-1 semi-final win over Lyon in the Coupe de France, much to his coach’s delight

Thomas Tuchel praised hat-trick hero Kylian Mbappe for his response after finding it “difficult” against Borussia Dortmund, with the forward’s partnership alongside Neymar crucial to Paris Saint-Germain.

With PSG lining up in an unfamiliar 4-3-3 formation, Mbappe struggled to make an impact during the first leg of the last-16 Champions League tie away in Dortmund last month.

However, since the 2-1 defeat in Europe, France international Mbappe has flourished in domestic action, scoring six goals in three games.

Mbappe’s hat-trick on Wednesday helped PSG progress to the Coupe de France final in style, with head coach Tuchel delighted at the 21-year-old’s display in the 5-1 thrashing of Lyon.

“Mbappe’s been very strong these last few weeks. He had a tough time in Dortmund playing in a different position. It was clearly difficult for him against Dortmund,” Tuchel told the media.

“With Neymar, they’re very strong together. After Dortmund, Mbappe showed a great reaction after every training session and during the games against Dijon and Lyon.

“He’s very strong, he uses his speed very well, he’s very decisive. He’s really in good shape.”

Neymar also scored in the rout, converting a second-half penalty after Marcal was deemed to have handled the ball inside the area midweek.

The Lyon defender received a second yellow card as punishment, allowing PSG to cut loose against 10 men. Mbappe added two more goals following his first-half equaliser, while Pablo Sarabia also scored late on.

Tuchel pointed to Neymar as the catalyst for the team to produce such “extraordinary performances”, the Brazilian benefiting from playing regularly after returning from a rib issue.

“Neymar was very strong, he’s still dangerous. For him, the most important thing is that he plays,” the former Dortmund boss said.

“He’s a player who helps us to do extraordinary performances, with extraordinary results. He has to play, and it’s good that he played 90 minutes.

“It is also good to have another game to play before Dortmund against Strasbourg. He needs that, he has the ability to play a lot, and when he plays a lot, he is super strong.”

Neymar scored PSG’s goal against Dortmund but criticised the way the club managed his injury following the defeat, insisting he had wanted to play prior to the trip to Germany.

Chinese president to visit Brussels this month

Date of visit by Xi Jinping is confirmed as 31 March, five days after EU-US summit.

China’s President Xi Jinping will visit Brussels on 31 March, the European Commission has confirmed.

The possibility of a trip has been on the cards for some time, as Xi will be making a tour of Europe, but the timing of his stopover in Brussels had been uncertain.

The visit will not be a full-blown summit, with but will instead feature a number of small meetings, chiefly with the president of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, and Herman Van Rompuy, president of the European Council, the body that brings together the European Union’s 28 member states.

The next EU-China summit will be held in the autumn.

Xi will also meet Belgian leaders and, on 1 April, will speak at the College of Europe, a partially EU-funded postgraduate college that has historically given an education to many future EU officials.

Xi’s visit will be one of three top-level meetings in Brussels in the space of a week.

US President Barack Obama will be in Brussels on 26 March and, on 3-4 April, national delegations from around 80 European and African countries will gather for an EU-Africa summit, the largest summit ever hosted by the EU.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has praised David Moyes as he prepares to come up against the man who brought him to the Premier League when West Ham travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Moyes, then manager of Everton, signed Arteta from Real Sociedad in January 2005 and the Spain midfielder remained at Goodison Park until moving to Arsenal six and a half years later.

The two achieved success together, Everton finishing fourth in 2004/05 and reaching the Champions League qualifiers before also claiming fifth-placed twice.

Now, with Arteta in the home dugout and Moyes bringing his relegation-battling Hammers to north London, the pair are set to meet as managers for the first time.

Arteta, 37, may be considered a pupil of Pep Guardiola having worked under the Manchester City boss before landing the Arsenal job – but he also holds plenty of affection for Moyes’ own approach.

“The thing that I admire is the person, who he is, his values, how he deals with people, how he treats people, how he treated the players when they were there,” he said.

“How well he deals with creating a culture around a club, a chemistry between the players and a belief that we could do something as a team. And then he works really hard.

“He is extremely demanding, he’s got character, Scottish character that is impulsive and I really enjoyed my time playing under him.”

Arteta revealed he had spoken to Moyes before deciding to take the reins at Arsenal and believes his former boss was hard done by when he himself left Everton to replace Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United – where he lasted just 10 months.

“I spoke with him a few times, he has always been very supportive,” Arteta said.

“He has a great belief in me and we maintain a really good relationship. Obviously the Manchester United situation, I think what happened there was very harsh on him. I know how he is as a manager and my opinion hasn’t changed at all.

“I know his structure, I know how organised he is. I am sure he’ll put a team out there that is going to make life very difficult for us.

“They will compete, they will be physical. We need to use our resources, play our game and then just think about performing. That performance will bring the points home.”

Arsenal are looking for three consecutive Premier League wins for the first time in over a year and will be chasing three points to keep themselves on the fringes of the European qualification places.

While Moyes will be keen to upset that run, he will do so without the injured Jack Wilshere – who misses out against his former club.

Arteta played alongside the England international at Arsenal and believes the 28-year-old could have been a true star were it not for his dire injury record.

“He could have been phenomenal,” added Arteta.

“It’s very sad with Jack. When I joined here and watched him play every day in training, you would say he could be one of the best midfielders.

“He always had something, then he is starting to build again a career and then again another injury, again another setback, and it was disappointing.

“I was very impressed with Jack how strong he was mentally to deal with the situation because as well he had a lot of pressure from the media because the expectations for him were big.”

Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool with be without Alisson for their Premier League clash with Bournemouth and the Champions League meeting with Atletico Madrid.

The Brazil international sustained a hip injury in training this week, meaning he missed the FA Cup defeat at Chelsea and will now sit out Saturday’s visit of Bournemouth in the Premier League and – more significantly – Wednesday’s last-16 second leg against Diego Simeone’s side as they seek to claw back a 1-0 deficit.

“Unfortunately Ali is out. He had a little incident in training before the Chelsea game,” said manager Jurgen Klopp.

“We all thought it was nothing and it was clear he would not play any way, the plan was he was on the bench. There, we thought, ‘Come on, we don’t have to take any risks’ so left him out of the squad.

“[There was a] scan the next day and they found something. So now he is out. We will see next week for sure and then we will see.

“He is not available for tomorrow and then the next week. We have to judge the situation. I would say after the international break 100 per cent. Whatever we can get before that we will see.”

Rio Ferdinand has revealed the Manchester United squad are “starting to click” after having a conversation with coach Mike Phelan.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side started the season poorly but have seen an upswing in form since the arival of playmaker Bruno Fernandes, who’s hit the ground running since his move from Sporting in January.

And Ferdinand opened up on a chat he had with United assistant boss Phelan, who claimed the atmosphere in the dressing room is improving at Old Trafford.

“Listen, it’s improved,” Ferdinand told BT Sport. “I was speaking to Mike Phelan, one of the coaching staff at Manchester United earlier, things are starting to click.

“They’re starting to understand things and they’ve understood as a group that it wasn’t going to be overnight where things are going to start working out.

 

 

“It’s going to take time, implement things into the team, into individuals but they’ve got a run of games that are going to be testing but I think this team are turning the corner but it’s a slow process.

“It’s not something where you’ve gone ‘Right, immediately it’s a big change and there we are, Man United are back amongst it vying for trophies’.

“This is a slow burn after a few years of kind of topsy-turviness.”

Pas étonnant, finalement, que notre «Brad Pitt latino», interprète révolutionnaire et concentré de testostérone, alter ego de Johnny Depp dans Las Vegas Parano, gangster buriné de Snatch, 21 Grammes et Sin City ait craqué devant ses yeux clairs et sa gueule d’ange. Le bambin devrait être à croquer. Sans rancune: Hasta siempre Che Guevara!?

Le projet d’adaptation ciné de 21 Jump Street prend forme et aurait accepté d’y faire une apparition. La série avait lancé sa carrière dans les années 80, avec le succès que l’on sait.

Malgré le succès qui est le sien et le statut d’icône planétaire qu’il a décroché notamment grâce à son rôle dans la saga Pirates des Caraïbes, Johnny Depp n’en oublie pas pour autant d’où il vient. Et c’est avec une certaine reconnaissance, mais aussi une bonne dose d’humour, que l’acteur aurait donné son accord pour figurer au générique de l’adaptation ciné de 21 Jump Street. Pas pour un premier rôle, mais juste pour une apparition sous les traits (et le perfecto?) de Tom Hanson, le policier à gueule d’ange qui à l’époque faisait chavirer le cœur des filles.

Johnny Depp avait déjà fait savoir qu’il était «partant» et le site Coming soon vient de confirmer l’information. 21 Jump Street, le film sera réalisé par Phil Lord et Chris Miller et mettra en scène Channing Tatum et Jonah Hill dans les rôles principaux, mais aussi Ice Cube dans le rôle du capitaine de police. A l’époque, la série racontait l’histoire d’une équipe de jeunes flics, dont la spécialité était d’enquêter dans des facs ou des lycées. Leur jeunesse leur permettait de se faire passer pour des étudiants et d’infiltrer leurs milieux. Les histoires abordaient des sujets sensibles comme la drogue, le Sida, le racisme, etc. Grâce à ces sujets et à son équipe de jeunes acteurs, 21 Jump Street est rapidement devenue culte à travers le monde. Un phénomène dont Hollywood ne pouvait que s’emparer, même des années plus tard.

Mais si l’adaptation ciné de 21 Jump Street avait eu lieu plus tôt, il n’est pas évident que Johnny Depp aurait accepté d’y participer. A l’époque, retenu par son contrat, l’acteur n’avait pas pu quitter la série aussi tôt qu’il l’aurait souhaité alors que les propositions de films commençaient à affluer. Et une fois parti, il a eu bien du mal à se débarrasser de l’étiquette d’”acteur à minettes” qui lui collait à la peau et qu’il n’assumait pas. D’où des choix de films très risqués à l’époque: Cry Baby, Edward aux mains d’argent et Arizona Dream. On sait désormais que Johnny Depp a parfaitement maitrisé son virage.

Le clip de Right there, le titre que Nicole Scherzinger interprète avec , circule depuis quelques jours sur le web. Le rappeur espérait profiter de cette rencontre pour tenter de séduire la chanteuse.

Les paparazzi sont à l’affut. Le tournage du clip du nouveau titre de Nicole Scherzinger pourrait bien être à l’origine d’une des liaisons les plus hot du moment. Invité pour un featuring sur la chanson Right there, le nouvel extrait de l’album Killer Live de l’ex-Pussycat Doll, le rappeur américain 50 Cent n’a pas caché d’avoir accepté pour approcher la sculpturale chanteuse.

Le Sun rapporte même qu’il aurait déclaré: «En fait, je voulais vraiment sortir avec elle». Et lorsqu’on lui a proposé cette collaboration sur Right there, 50 Cent raconte avoir répondu: «Ok, je le fais. J’aurais une chance d’être dans le clip, d’être un peu avec elle et on verra ce qui se passe!». De ce côté, pas de souci, les vœux du rappeur ont été exaucés: il partage plusieurs scènes avec Nicole Scherzinger. Il aura en revanche peut-être été déçu que sa «promise» ne soit pas mise en scène comme le sont les jeunes et jolies filles dans les clips de rap. Maintenant, on ne sait pas ce qui s’est passé hors tournage et derrière la caméra. D’autant que le chéri de madame, le pilote de Formule

, a repris la compétition depuis quelques semaines et se promène entre la Chine et la Turquie, loin des yeux de sa belle.

Nicole Scherzinger et ses courbes affolantes continuent donc de faire des ravages et lui permettent d’assurer la promo de son premier album solo.

En parallèle, et pour asseoir encore un peu plus sa popularité, elle présentera la prochaine édition de la version américaine d’X-Factor. Audience assurée?

Le premier roman de Lambert, La fille porte-bonheur, vient d’être récompensé lors des Journées du livre et du vin de Saumur. Il a reçu le prix qui distingue les livres les plus adaptables au cinéma.

Un acteur qui repart avec le prix du livre le plus adaptable au cinéma, l’anecdote est savoureuse et le clin d’œil sympathique. C’est ce qui vient d’arriver à

le week-end dernier. Auteur d’un premier roman, La fille porte-bonheur (Plon), paru en février dernier et que Gala.fr vous avait fait découvrir, il était présent aux Journées nationales du livre et du vin qui se tiennent chaque année à Saumur. Un voyage en Anjou qu’il n’oubliera pas de sitôt donc puisque il en ramène un prix littéraire. Même si ce n’est ni le Goncourt, ni le Renaudot, il est extrêmement gratifiant de voir son livre distingué par un jury présidé par Jean Becker et composé de Mylène Demongeot, Brigite Fossey, Frédéric Diefenthal et Gwendoline Hamon, Thomas Dutronc entre autres.

Christophe Lambert a ainsi reçu le prix Claude Chabrol qui distingue le roman qui présente le plus de facilités pour être adapté sur grand écran. Un prix créé cette année en hommage au réalisateur disparu et qui était un habitué de la manifestation. Il s’impose devant des écrivains confirmés comme Patrick Cauvin ou Laurent Chalumeau. Un encouragement pour continuer? Pourquoi pas? A moins que cela ne donne des idées ou une source de motivation supplémentaire à Christophe Lambert pour qu’il passe derrière la caméra et réalise son premier film. Avec Sophie Marceau dans le rôle titre bien évidemment.

Accident sur le tournage de la série (gyro)phare de la première chaîne: a fait une chute monumentale devant une église de la capitale.

Vingt ans qu’elle fait la police sur TF1 et Véronique Genest n’a pas pris une ride. Mieux, notre héroïne de fiction a gardé sa gouaille, sa franchise… et ses cheveux ébouriffés. Mais la dernière de ses courses-poursuites effrénées a failli tourner au drame!

C’est le magazine Ici Paris qui révèle l’information. Lors d’une scène musclée qui se déroulait à la basilique Sainte-Clotilde (dans le VIIe arrondissement), Madame le Commissaire a trébuché et dévalé les escaliers du parvis… Une cascade spectaculaire qui aurait pu être tragique. Acteurs, réalisateurs, figurants et techniciens ont tous craint une issue fatale.

Heureusement, le silence qui avait envahi le plateau a vite été brisé par les «hurlements» de la flamboyante rouquine. Des «cris de douleur», selon l’hebdomadaire, mais finalement, plus de peur que de mal.

La comédienne, âgée de 55 ans (elle les aura en juin), s’en tire avec une entorse à la cheville.?

Il faut dire que la plantureuse épouse du docteur Meyer Boukobza (son partenaire à l’écran et le père de son fil Sam, 14 ans) est une sportive et une dure à cuire. Auteure du best-seller 46/38: Guerre et Poids, Véro s’astreint à une discipline de fer. Elle nage un kilomètre par jour, sillonne les routes de France à moto, et ne se fait doubler (à la télé) qu’en cas d’extrême nécessité.

Sexy, amincie, capable d’encaisser coups et blessures et plutôt contente de faire bling-bling avec ses menottes (et de toucher plus de 250 000 euros par épisode), la fliquette la plus célèbre du Paf n’est pas prête à jouer les petites choses fragiles. Malgré ses déboires et les histoires à rebondissements, notre star préfère s’accrocher… et on la comprend!
