Le mystère du Titanic continue de fasciner. A la suite d’un documentaire diffusé à la télévision anglaise, le doute sur les raisons du naufrage ressurgit. D’après certains experts, un incendie aurait fragilisé la coque du navire bien avant la fameuse traversée…

Nouvelles interrogations autour du naufrage du mythique Titanic. Mais cette fois-ci, il ne s’agit pas de savoir s’il y avait assez de place pour deux sur cette fameuse planche… Depuis la diffusion du très sérieux documentaire Titanic : The New Evidence, sur la chaîne anglaise Channel 4, le 31 décembre dernier, le débat sur les causes de la tragédie de 1912 est relancé. En effet, selon le journaliste irlandais Senan Monoly, qui enquête sur le sujet depuis longtemps, l’iceberg ne serait pas le seul responsable de la disparition du paquebot.

Il estime qu’un incendie dans la chaufferie aurait en fait fragilisé la coque du bateau plusieurs semaines avant son départ de Southampton. « De nouvelles photos découvertes dans un album qui n’avait pas été ouvert depuis 100 ans montrent une distorsion sur la partie droite de la coque qui n’est pas un reflet. La déformation est à la place exacte où l’iceberg a frappé » a-t-il expliqué au site Mashable FR. D’après les experts qu’il a interrogés, le feu aurait même fait perdre près de 75% de sa résistance à l’acier de la coque.

Bien qu’il ait été signalé par plusieurs employés, l’incendie aurait été dissimulé, car l’enjeu était trop important pour les autorités. Impossible d’ébruiter un tel incident, au risque de devoir retarder le départ du « plus grand paquebot du monde », fierté de la marine marchande anglaise. Mais sans cette fragilité sur sa proue, le navire aurait-il pu résister au choc ? Les passionnés d’histoire et de navigation se perdent en conjectures…

Chez les Macron épouse, enfants et petit-enfants sont mobilisés au côté d’Emmanuel dans sa course à l’Elysée. Parmi les fidèles soutiens de l’ancien ministre de l’Economie se trouve également Figaro, le chien de la famille.

Dans le clan Macron, la politique est visiblement une histoire de famille. Et peu importe si celle-ci est recomposée. Alors que le candidat d’En Marche! poursuit sa campagne électorale et se heurte à quelques débuts de polémiques, il peut compter sur le soutien sans faille de son épouse, Brigitte, de ses enfants et de ses petits-enfants. La belle-fille d’Emmanuel Macron, Tiphaine Auzière (née d’un premier mariage de Brigitte Macron), avait déjà expliqué à la Voix du Nord qu’à ses yeux, son beau-père a toujours été « une personnalité hors norme, un homme intelligent avec qui le dialogue est toujours possible ». Il y a quelques jours, elle a démontré une nouvelle fois son attachement à sa campagne électorale en posant en famille, sur une photo, vêtue d’un pull sur lequel est inscrit le slogan En Marche!.

Si son mari, Antoine, et leurs deux enfants, Elise et Aurèle, sont eux aussi affublés d’un accoutrement semblable, c’est un autre soutien à Emmanuel Macron qui retient l’attention de la Toile. Il s’agit de Figaro, le chien de la famille. Immortalisé devant la plage de Berck, dans le Pas-de-Calais, le dog argentin si cher à l’ancien ministre de l’Economie arbore sur son flanc droit le slogan En Marche! inscrit à la bombe de peinture bleue. L’animal apparaît d’une sérénité à toute épreuve, visiblement en total accord avec ce message politique. Autant dire que le fidèle compagnon de la famille n’a pas tardé à devenir une mascotte du web. Malheureusement pour lui, les lois de la République font qu’il n’aura pas l’opportunité de glisser ses bulletins de vote dans l’urne les 23 avril et 7 mai prochains. Pour l’instant, aucune loi ne lui interdit cependant d’afficher son soutien public à un homme politique.

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti produced a typically Ancelotti-like response as he admitted to being “quite happy” with the Toffees display after their 1-0 win over Brighton.

Richarlison scored a wonderful goal as Everton continued their Premier League revival under Ancelotti.

The Italian veteran hailed the impact of the Goodison Park faithful and admitted his side did well for the majority of the game.

He told Match of the Day: “Quite happy. For 60 minutes the performance was good, at the end it was normal to suffer a little bit at 1-0 up.

“We suffered but we were determined to have three points at the end and this is the most important thing.”

“The response of the players was good. The support of the stadium is really important for us. When we play here we want to feel at home and I hope the next game will be the same because it is really important.”

On Theo Walcott’s penalty appeal: “I think it was a penalty, I’m surprised, I think he tried to score and didn’t fall down. Usually if he falls it is a penalty I don’t know. The work of the referee is not easy but maybe with VAR it could be more simple.”

On Richarlison: “A fantastic goal from Richarlison. He has fantastic qualities. He can play everywhere.”

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl insisted his side produced a “fantastic” away performance to beat Leicester 2-1 at the King Power Stadium.

The Saints were condemned to the heaviest defeat in Premier League history when they lost 9-0 to Leicester at St Mary’s earlier in the season, but have been on a fantastic run of form to see them climb the table.

And Hasenhuttl admitted the Saints were nervous but was delighted with the way they played.

He told Match of the Day: “Fantastic game today from both sides. A good feeling every second of this game that we could win here. It was maybe the best away performance from us this season.

“We played fantastically quick behind the lines. We had to be nervous until the end but we tried to press them high and keep them away from our goal. It was a fantastic game I think.

“It was a very important game for us in this season. We changed completely our mind and worked so hard to find a successful way and at the moment to see this team play enjoyable all the time.”

 

Takumi Minamino has admitted he was “surprised” when Liverpool made a move to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg, but insists he feels like he’s been “playing here for several months”.

Having played on Merseyside during the Champions League this season, that was a big moment in his career that gave him the confidence and conviction to press on further in his development.

Minamino told France Football: “I received an offer from what is currently the best club on the planet – that means a lot to me.

“I felt that I was very fortunate. I knew that Liverpool were interested in me.

“I was surprised, but after having faced them twice in the Champions’ League and having had the opportunity to speak with Jurgen Klopp, I became more and more excited to take this challenge on.

“The fact that I scored a goal at Anfield gave me a certain level of confidence. I said to myself that I want to savour this atmosphere more often.”

Minamino also explained how much he is loving life in England so far, with everyone at the club making him feel incredibly welcome.

 

 

He added: “Only a few days have passed since I arrived, but I already feel like I have been playing here for several months.

“It is all the love that I have received from the manager, the staff and my teammates… Liverpool gives you a phenomenal environment in which to focus on football.

“I remember that Klopp came to see me after the first training session and said to me: ‘Don’t worry about who you are playing with now, play in the same way as you did at Salzburg, play the Minamino way. Enjoy yourself!’”

Xavi will be the next manager of Barcelona, sources have confirmed to Goal, with Ernesto Valverde’s tenure at Camp Nou set to come to an end.

The legendary former midfielder has been in talks with Barca general director Oscar Grau and technical secretary Eric Abidal in recent days.

No public announcement is expected before Xavi’s current team Al-Sadd have played in the final of the Qatar Cup on January 17.

It is still yet to be decided whether Xavi will take charge at the end of the season, or more immediately.

Xavi is keen to take the job straight away and Barca would be happy to take him, but the 39-year-old respects Valverde and doesn’t want to force him out of the role.

Valverde’s future is likely to be high on the agenda at a meeting of the Barcelona board on Monday.

If he is removed from his post, Xavi would be confirmed as his replacement immediately after the Qatar Cup final; if not, he will take over at the end of the season.

With rumours circling, Xavi was asked about taking the Barca job after his side’s 4-1 win over Al-Rayyan in the Qatar Cup semi-final on Saturday.

“I cannot hide it, that is my dream,” he told reporters.

“It is my dream to coach Barcelona, I have said it many times in many interviews. Everybody knows that I support Barcelona from the bottom of my heart, so yes, it’s one of my dreams but I’m focused on Al-Sadd.

“Yes, Abidal is my friend. I’ve met him many times, so I cannot say anything, just that I respect Barcelona, I respect Valverde, I respect my club.

“I’m doing my job here, I’m doing my best.

“I’m focused today on the semi-final, and now we play the final so I’m very happy, I’m very happy to coach Al-Sadd. I cannot say anything else.”

Unrest among Barca’s fans has been growing under Valverde for some time, and Thursday’s 3-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa semi-final was the latest in a list of disappointments.

The former Athletic Bilbao and Valencia manager has won two Spanish titles, one Copa del Rey and a Supercopa since taking over in the summer of 2017, but Champions League heartbreak at the hands of Roma and Liverpool still weighs heavily over the club.

The Norwegian has reiterated his stance on transfers, stating he will only consider signing players who are the “right fit” for the club

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has expressed his belief that Manchester United “need players who will stay for a long time” rather than a “short-term fix” in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils have been linked with a number of high-profile players across Europe with the winter market now open, after enduring their worst start to a Premier League season in 33 years.

Solskjaer’s position has come under intense scrutiny in recent months, with a 3-1 League Cup semi-final defeat at home to Manchester City on Tuesday marking his side’s latest setback.

The Norwegian has been tipped to add to his squad this month, with a top-four finish still up for grabs along with Europa League and FA Cup glory if United can rediscover a consistent streak.

To that end, Goal has learned that United have revived their interest in Sporting Lisbon ace Bruno Fernandes, while also enquiring over the availability of Wolves duo Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez.

However, Solskjaer does not plan on making any rash decisions regarding new players at this stage, despite admitting that the club are always on the lookout for the “right deal”.

When asked in a Q&A for MUTV whether he can offer any update on potential incomings at Old Trafford, the 46-year-old stated: “No. Of course, we’re always looking for the right deal and players who fit for Man Utd and that’s not going to be a short-term fix.

“I’m fed up saying it but we are looking to build and looking forward and we need players who will stay here for a long time.”

Solskjaer also responded to rumours on social media of club captain Ashley Young’s impending departure, with Italian giants Inter thought to be keen on landing his signature.

“Social media, I don’t read that! Of course there is always going to be speculation about our players and we’ll just have to put up with it, that’s just the way it is at this club,” he said.

“We’re always headlines, front or back page.”

United are gearing up for a return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon, with bottom-of-the-table Norwich set to arrive at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer masterminded a 3-1 win at Carrow Road earlier in the season, but he says that result will count for little this time around as the Red Devils look to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on New Year’s Day.

“That was a few months ago now,” he added. “We’ve got to dust ourselves down and get the disappointment of the last couple of games – with Arsenal and City especially – out of our heads and be focused and positive and go out there and be ourselves.”

À l’occasion du quinzième anniversaire de la sortie de Près de toi, son premier album, revivez les moments forts de la carrière de Lorie. Passée d’idole des jeunes à comédienne de théâtre, la jeune femme a accompli une bonne partie de ses rêves.

C’est un quinzième anniversaire qu’elle aurait pu ne jamais fêter. En effet, l’album Près de toi, sorti le 30 octobre 2001 par la toute jeune Lorie alors âgée de 19 ans, a failli ne jamais voir le jour. À l’époque, l’ex-patineuse qui a dû faire une croix sur son avenir dans le sport tente par tous les moyens de percer dans la musique. Grâce à sa rencontre avec le producteur Johnny Williams, qui cherche une Britney Spears française, Laure Pester de son vrai nom voit enfin sa chance se dessiner. Mais elle qui se consacre déjà depuis ses 15 ans à sa carrière musicale, à défaut de pouvoir encore patiner, doit affronter un nouveau désaveux. Lorie et son producteur enregistrent le titre Près de moi au début de l’année 2001 mais aucune maison de disque n’accepte de signer la jeune interprète.

Son rêve d’être la nouvelle lolita de la pop française s’effondre. Mais Johnny Williams n’a pas dit son dernier mot et prend la décision (risquée pour l’époque) de diffuser gratuitement sur Internet le titre de sa jeune artiste. Un pari osé mais qui s’avère payant puisque Près de moi est téléchargé plus de 15 000 fois en l’espace de deux mois. Lorie exulte et signe finalement un contrat avec Epic, maison de disque historique de Michael Jackson. Si les radios musicales refusent d’abord de passer ce titre acidulé d’une jeune fille en fleur, Près de moi grimpe tout de même dans les classements et il est certifié disque de platine pour ses 500 000 ventes. Forte de ce succès, Lorie se lance donc tout naturellement dans l’enregistrement de son premier album, qui sort le 30 octobre 2001. Ce premier opus réalisé en six mois à peine comporte deux autres titres-phares de la carrière de la chanteuse: Je serai (ta meilleure amie) et Toute seule.

La suite des aventures de Lorie s’est imposée au yeux de tous. Devenue véritable phénomène de société, la jeune chanteuse a sorti sept albums en l’espace de quinze ans mais s’est également tournée vers la comédie, le merchandising et la télévision. Après une année de représentations avec la pièce Pygmalion au théâtre en 2015, Lorie a repris le chemin du jury d’Un air de famille, un télé-crochet Suisse. À 34 ans, la jolie chanteuse peut se targuer d’avoir déjà vécu mille et une vie, et d’être passée par mille et un looks, tout en ayant conservé la même énergie qui la conduira à coup sûr vers de nouveaux projets réjouissants.

Ce mardi 1er novembre, l’audition d’Aliénette dans La France a un incroyable talent a retenu toute l’attention du public et a ému aux larmes le jury.

Une semaine après la touchante prestation de Mickael, qui a remporté un buzz d’or lui ouvrant les portes de la finale, une autre candidate a réussi l’exploit de subjuguer le jury de La France a un incroyable talent. Agée de 25 ans, Katchry, surnommée « Aliénette » est aveugle de naissance. Originaire des Philippines, elle a appris la langue de Molière seule sur Internet pour comprendre les chansons de son idole Edith Piaf. Pour son casting, la jeune femme a choisi d’interpréter en français I dreamed a dream, titre qu’avait interprété Susan Boyle lors de sa première participation à la version britannique du programme. Sa voix étonnante lui a valu une standing-ovation de la part du public et a provoqué les larmes du jury. Habituellement très froid avec les candidats, le redoutable Gilbert Rozon a même déclaré : « On connaît maintenant la voix des anges » à la fin de sa prestation. De son côté, Hélène Ségara était tellement bouleversée qu’elle était incapable de donner son avis et a même dû quitter le plateau pour retrouver ses esprits.
