Mesut Ozil insists he will stay at Arsenal for the rest of this season and has hailed the impact of Mikel Arteta after he experienced a “hart time” under Unai Emery.

The playmaker suggested the former club captain has a better connection with the Arsenal players and that he feels rejuvenated under the Spaniard.

Ozil – whose £350,000-a-week contract ends at the end of next season – has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce but insisted he is going nowhere.

He told the Mirror: “I am very pleased with my contract that will continue here this year and the year after.

“I can’t tell you what the future will bring, I’m excited about the future, but I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Ozil’s troubled spell continued after Emery had left when in December he went completely missing in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester City and angrily kicked his gloves as he walked from the pitch.

Ozil insists things are different under Arteta, who lifted two FA Cups as a player at Arsenal and served as captain from 2014 until his retirement in 2016.

 

 

Ozil added: “I had a hard time, especially with the previous coach Unai Emery, but now everything has changed, and I am very happy with everything. I play regularly and everything goes well.

“Arteta, as I said in my previous interviews, it was surprising to many people that he adopted the club in such a short time. He’s doing a good job. He’s hungry for success.

“Everything about him is positive. Arteta’s story is a bit different because I don’t remember when she quit football, but it hasn’t been over that long. In this way, players can understand more easily.”

Gary Neville has given a glowing assessment of young Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams — although he worded it in a rather strange way.

Williams continues to go from strength to strength after breaking into the United side this season, performing strongly in the 1-0 FA Cup third-round replay victory over Wolves.

The 19-year-old did not even travel on United’s first team pre-season tour in the summer, though made the most of his chances after an injury to Luke Shaw and amid current speculation linking Ashley Young with a departure.

Neville, a former homegrown United full-back himself of course, took to Twitter to laud Williams with a rather amusing metaphor.

“I like Brandon Williams,” he wrote.

“What I like about him specifically is he has that look in his eye of someone that would eat his opponents nose to win the match. Keep going kid! Oh he can play football too [sic], which is always a bonus.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also been full of praise for Williams since he broke into the United first team.

After United’s win over Burnley on December 28, the Norwegian said: “He’s never let us down.

 

 

“He’s a top young kid, never fazed, he’s got a great attitude, confident, he can go forward, defend, he’s brave, he’s got everything a Man United kid should have.

“That’s why he’s playing, you’re never scared of putting Brandon in any type of game.”

 

Juan Mata proved to be Manchester United’s hero in Wednesday night’s FA Cup replay win over Wolves at Old Trafford.

The Spanish playmaker scored the only goal of the game with a delightful second-half dink over John Ruddy, to book United a fourth round place.

Mata, 31, hasn’t been a guaranteed first choice this term, but was man of the match after a standout display – having also impressed in the 4-0 thrashing of Norwich at the weekend.

The former Chelsea man remains valued by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it was noticeable during the first half that when the Norwegian looked to make a change, he handed a note to Mata, for him to explain elsewhere.

Asked post-game on BT Sport what the note said Mata joked that his boss was asking him to buy some bread and milk.

But Solskjaer offered a far more realistic alternative, explaining how Wolves decision to start Adama Traore on the left wing rather than his more regular home on the right, made up his mind for Dan James to swap flanks.

“It was just a spell there that we struggled a little bit, I felt,” Solskjaer said. “The players were just playing more off the cuff than they should have been doing.

“When they swapped Traore we just swapped Dan over for a little while, and it worked. Dan was straight through on goal two seconds after.”

 

 

Wales winger James made a blistering start to life at United following his summer arrival from Swansea, scoring three goals in his opening four Premier League matches.

But he hasn’t score since, and spurned a one-on-one opportunity in the first half, being denied by Wolves stand-in stopper Ruddy.

Mata showed more composure when he went clean through and secured victory, and Solskjaer believed that the 22 year-old must learn from the elder Spaniard.

“It’s not often you create that many clear opportunities that we did with Dan,” added Solskjaer.

“There were] some great runs in behind from him and he needs to learn from Juan. That composure, an absolute beauty of a goal.

“Great timing with his run as well, we were a little bit scared he was offside, but no. Sometimes the brain is quicker than the feet.”

 

Wes Brown thinks Mason Greenwood “needs to focus on Manchester United” amid talk that an England call-up could be on the way.

The 18-year-old has been impressive when called upon this season by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, scoring nine goals in all competitions, including four in the Premier League.

Brown acknowledges that Greenwood, who played 64 minutes as Man Utd beat Wolves 1-0 in the FA Cup on Wednesday night, is likely to become an England star in the future but insists there is no need to rush the youngster.

“Honestly, if you watched him for the U23s you’d understand his capabilities,” Brown told The Metro.

“The question obviously is can he do it in the first team on a permanent basis? A lot of the times he’s been coming on as a sub but he only ever needs one or two opportunities to make a difference.

“You can see the quality he has. He’s very young and Ole is doing the right thing with him at the moment. But quality-wise, it’s all there to see.

“I’m sure in the future he’s definitely going to be one for England. Is that going to be happening soon? I doubt it. Does he need that right now? Probably not.

“He needs to focus on Manchester United but you cannot question his quality.”

 

The Gunners defender has not featured since the defeat against Chelsea last month and has been linked with Galatasaray

Mikel Arteta has not ruled out letting Shkodran Mustafi leave this month despite the injury problems which have plagued the Arsenal defence in recent weeks.

The German centre-back has not featured for the Gunners since Arteta’s first home game in charge, when he was heavily blamed for his part in Chelsea’s late winner as they came from behind to snatch a 2-1 victory at Emirates Stadium last month.

Galatasaray have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, with some reports suggesting Mustafi’s agent has travelled to Turkey to try and finalise a transfer.

And whilst admitting a potential exit for Mustafi this month would be far from ideal given Arsenal’s injury problems at the back, Arteta has not shut the door on the defender being allowed to leave.

“Can we afford [it]? The ideal scenario is no,” said Arsenal’s head coach. “If it happens, we will have to invent something.”

Arteta has seen his options at the back decimated in recent weeks, losing Calum Chambers to a long-term knee injury which has ruled him out for the season and also Sead Kolasinac to a thigh strain picked up in training.

With Kieran Tierney sidelined for another two months as he recovers from a dislocated shoulder and Hector Bellerin still struggling with a hamstring injury that has kept him out of action since the 2-1 defeat by Brighton in December, Arsenal’s boss has little to work with at the back.

Central midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles continues to deputise at right-back while on Saturday, when Sheffield United visit Emirates Stadium, 18-year-old winger Bukayo Saka looks set to fill in at left-back in the absence of Kolasinac and Tierney.

“We have a lot of issues at the back, the fact that Calum got the big injury is modifying our plans,” admitted Arteta, who has been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Gemain left-back Layvin Kurzawa by French outlet RMC Sport.

“We are playing with full-backs that are not full-backs. They are wingers or central midfielders and could we afford to lose full-backs? No, but we don’t have any full-backs.

“We have to live with it, this is what we have. We have to put 11 players out on the pitch on Saturday and I am sure we will. They will try their best, and I will try to select the ones who in my opinion are the best fit for that game.”

Turning his attentions back to Mustafi, Arteta has challenged the out-of-favour defender to prove to him that he can still make an impact at Arsenal, should he fail to get a move before the end of the transfer window.

The Spaniard was briefly a team-mate of the German at Everton and says if he stays, he will get another opportunity to show he is good enough to be part of his plans going forward.

“I have known him since my time when I was at Everton,” said Arteta. “I know what he can do.

“I know this history at this football club, but it is up to him. I told everybody from day one: ‘It is up to you guys. You show me how much you want it, you show me you are committed here, you are going to have a chance and it is going to come this week, next week or the following one’.

“They are all going to have the chance to play. After it is up to them to show it.”

Barcelona star Lionel Messi claims that he thinks “less and less” about scoring goals as he enters the twilight years of his career, instead focusing more on reading games as a whole in order to affect the action in a way that is more beneficial for the team.

Messi has broken countless scoring records throughout his career, perhaps most notably having become the all-time leading scorer in La Liga, and is widely lauded as one of the greatest finishers in the history of the game.

The Argentine is closing in on the final years of his senior career, however, with his 33rd birthday arriving in June, and he admits that he is starting to “step back” more often these days and offer others the chance to apply the finishing touch.

“I think less and less about scoring goals,” Messi told La Liga on DAZN. “I’m starting to step back more and more to be the creator rather than the one who finishes.

“Obviously I like scoring and If have a chance I’ll take it, but every time I go on to the pitch I’m less focused on scoring goals and more focused on the game. I’ve never been obsessed with goals.

“I understand that people will talk about it when I stop scoring so many, but that’s part of the game, part of growing as a player and adapting to the times, to be the best player both for yourself and for the team.”

But while Messi will always be looked at to produce a piece of individual magic that could settle a match in his team’s favour, the six-time Ballon d’Or winner admits to having gone through a frustrating drought upon his promotion to the first team at Camp Nou.

“There was a time I didn’t score many goals,” he said. “I always scored goals both for Argentina and for Barcelona’s youth team, but I had a hard time scoring during the first few years I played in the first team. I would either make mistakes or I was unlucky.

“I had so many chances but I couldn’t score, until one day everything clicked and the ball started going in. It took me a few years before that happened.

“I remember [Samuel] Eto’o told me: ‘the day you start scoring, you won’t stop’.”

Sur les treize femmes qui ont accusé Denis Baupin de harcèlement sexuel, trois ont décidé d’aller plus loin en portant plainte contre le débuté écologiste.

Jeudi, Denis Baupin niait toute forme de harcèlement sexuel et rejetait en bloc les faits qui lui étaient reprochés. Le même jour, son épouse Emmanuelle Cosse le défendait et affirmait qu’elle avait confiance en lui. Mais ce même jour, l’affaire Baupin a franchi un nouveau cap puisque trois des treize femmes qui ont témoigné dans Mediapart et France Inter ont porté plainte auprès de la Brigade de Répression de la Délinquance sur la Personne (BRDP).

Citée par Mediapart, Isabelle Attard a déclaré: «Je porte plainte pour que la justice fasse son travail jusqu’au bout. Je ne veux pas m’arrêter au milieu d’un processus. Et puis, dans l’esprit de quelques-uns, c’était suspect de ne pas l’avoir fait… Là, cela permet de renforcer l’enquête préliminaire en cours.». Peut-être que la lecture de l’interview de Denis Baupin à L’Obs a fini par la convaincre. L’époux d’Emmanuelle Cosse y mettait en avant une certaine forme de libertinage propre au mouvement écologique, voire un règlement de compte politique interne au parti.

Dans son témoignage, Isabelle Attard raconte avoir reçu des dizaines de textos de la part de Denis Baupin entre juin 2012 et décembre 2013. «C’était du harcèlement quasi quotidien de SMS provocateurs, salaces, explique-t-elle. C’était par exemple: j’aime bien quand tu croises tes jambes comme ça. C’était même crûment dans des réunions ou des déjeuners de travail le fait de me proposer d’être mon amant».

Sandrine Rousseau, une autre plaignante révèle de son côté qu’en octobre 2011, dans un couloir qui menait aux toilettes du siège d’EELV, Denis Baupin l’«a plaquée contre le mur en me tenant par la poitrine et a cherché à m’embrasser». Quant à Elen Debost, en 2011, alors qu’elle est une jeune militante, elle dit avoir été victime de «plusieurs mois de SMS d’incitation sexuelle de Denis Baupin». Elle détaille: «Au total, j’ai reçu une centaine de messages. Du type « Je suis dans un train et j’aimerais te sodomiser en cuissarde ». « J’adore les situations de domination. Tu dois être une dominatrice formidable. » “J’ai envie de voir ton cul.”».

Ces plaintes viennent s’ajouter à l’enquête préliminaire ouverte le 10 mai et qui doit faire la lumière sur les faits reprochés à Denis Baupin. Les policiers de la BRDP avancent vite mais ils ont beaucoup de personnes à auditionner. Les femmes qui ont témoigné, mais aussi leur entourage pour procéder à des vérifications ou encore des politiques comme Cécile Duflot et François de Rugy. L’enquête préliminaire pourrait durer encore jusqu’en juillet et Denis Baupin sera sans doute entendu à la fin.

Les journalistes d’iTélé sont invités depuis lundi 6 et jusqu’au vendredi 10 à se prononcer sur le projet de la nouvelle direction de la chaîne. Audrey Pulvar a exprimé son intention de ne pas voter cette motion de défiance, arguant qu’on «n’est pas obligé d’aimer les gens pour lesquels on travaille».

L’atmosphère est électrique dans les locaux d’iTélé. Depuis hier, lundi 6 juin et jusqu’au vendredi 10 juin, la rédaction est appelée à voter une motion de défiance contre Serge Nedjar, nommé fin mai à la tête de la chaîne. Ce proche de Vincent Bolloré, venu du quotidien gratuit Direct Matin, a déjà annoncé un projet pour iTélé, axé sur la nécessité de faire des économies. Réduction des coûts, non renouvellement des pigistes et des CDD, multiplication des «émissions sponsorisées», fusion des tranches horaires… Le programme ne fait pas l’unanimité, et les départs se multiplient.

Mais pour la journaliste Audrey Pulvar, star de l’antenne, l’inquiétude ne justifie pas le vote d’une motion de censure contre la nouvelle direction. Elle a expliqué son point de vue dans un courrier adressé à la rédaction. «Je persiste à penser qu’iTélé ne ‘finira’ pas ‘comme Direct Matin » a-t-elle écrit en réponses aux craintes exprimées par la Société des Journalistes (SDJ), à l’origine de la motion de défiance. «Produire 20 heures d’info en direct par jour, ce n’est pas une activité comme une autre, a-t-elle argué. Nos ‘clients’ ne viennent pas acheter des casseroles. Nous avons un métier : le journalisme. Nous avons un outil industriel : notre média, son histoire, son ancrage. Nous avons une parole et une force collectives. Nous avons des lois sur les médias et un CSA particulièrement vigilant, pour nous protéger. »

L’animatrice de On ne va pas se mentir sur iTélé, et ancienne chroniqueuse du Grand 8 sur D8, estime en outre que le vote de la motion pourrait dégrader encore le climat au sein de la chaîne. «Entamer un bras de fer aussi violent et aussi vite avec la nouvelle direction générale ne fera, selon moi, que les exposer un peu plus. Quelle est l’étape suivante ? La grève ? Les plus précaires, les salaires les moins élevés même détenteurs de CDI sont-ils en mesure de renoncer à plusieurs jours de paye ? » s’est-elle interrogée dans son courrier. Avant de conclure : « Nous avons à faire à un encadrement qui ne pense pas comme nous, qui – sans doute – ne nous aime pas beaucoup, mais on n’est pas obligé d’aimer les gens avec lesquels ou pour lesquels on travaille (…) Jugeons à l’épreuve des faits, non seulement d’incantations. » Les résultats du vote seront connus vendredi soir.

L’Académie a statué: Nikos Aliagas est nommé. Dans quelques semaines, le journaliste et présentateur entrera enfin au musée Grévin.

Sa popularité est telle auprès des Français qu’il nous paraissait presque évident que Nikos Aliagas avait déjà fait son entrée à Grévin. Pourtant, 15 ans après son éclosion médiatique sur le plateau de la Star Academy, le talentueux journaliste ne figure toujours pas au casting du musée des doubles de cire. Le mal va finalement être réparé.

Stéphane Bern qui préside l’Académie Grévin a statué avec son jury qu’il était grand temps d’accorder à Nikoas Aliagas son ticket d’entrée. À 47 ans, l’animateur de The Voice va donc prochainement se prêter au jeu du moulage afin de réaliser un double en cire le plus fidèle possible de la réalité.Lui qui a bien du mal à tenir en place devra cette fois rester aussi calme et silencieux qu’une statue grecque. Les sculpteurs de Grévin vont devoir trouver la position la plus représentative du journaliste d’1m77 que les téléspectateurs connaissent pour son large sourire et sa bonne humeur communicative.

Sur Twitter, Nikos Aliagas s’est dit “honoré et ému” de bientôt pouvoir entrer dans l’enceinte prisée du Musée Grévin. Il rejoindra entre autres, les nouveaux arrivants Cristiano Ronaldo, Kad Merad, Marc Lavoine ou le pape François.

Le 9 juin, TF1 proposait un immense show pour célébrer l’ouverture de l‘Euro 2016. Aux commandes, Alessandra Sublet, pétillante, n’a pas fait l’unanimité, notamment à propos de son moment Danse avec les stars.

Le 10 juin enfin, s’est ouvert l’Euro 2016 au Stade de France avec le premier match de la compétition qui opposait la France —victorieuse— à la Roumanie. La veille, un immense show a été organisé sur l’une des plus grandes fan zones de l’évènement, au Champ-de-Mars à Paris. Pas moins de 80000 spectateurs en liesse étaient là pour applaudir les stars venues encourager les joueurs, et 4,5 millions de téléspectateurs ont suivi la retransmission en direct sur TF1. Aux commandes ce soir-là, la pétillante Alessandra Sublet, dont le sourire et l’audace n’ont pas suffi à convaincre.

Rapidement occultées par la compétition en elle-même et les autres fails de la soirée, les réactions à la prestation de l’animatrice ont fusé sur les réseaux sociaux. Moquée pour ses lancements ratés ou encore sa façon très joyeuse d’ignorer totalement la réponse d’un jeune garçon qu’elle venait d’interroger, Alessandra Sublet s’est aussi offert un petit moment de gloire en justaucorps à franges qui n’a pas laissé indifférent.

Lancée par la voix off de Danse avec les stars, celle de Richard Darbois, l’animatrice de 39 ans a esquissé quelques pas de “salsa teintée de jive”. Allant et venant entre les bras musclés des danseurs, ses longues jambes parfaitement sculptées étaient ainsi mises en valeur et ça n’a échappé à personne. Sur Twitter, la plupart saluaient la plastique impeccable de la jeune maman de Charlie, 4 ans, et Alphonse, 22 mois, plaisantant sur le fait que cela pourrait provoquer des crises conjugales. D’autres en revanche ont réussi à mettre en lien les ratés de la soirée, comme la chanson de Will.i.am et la qualité du son, avec le physique d’Alessandra Sublet: “Le son est vraiment dégueulasse, il faudrait investir un peu moins dans le botox de Sublet et engager un vrai ingénieur du son.”

Qu’importent les critiques. Alessandra Sublet, de son côté, grande habituée des gaffes, a préféré se concentrer sur les retours positifs: “Merci à tous pour vos messages! C’était fou et j’ai tellement kiffé!” a-t-elle posté sur Twitter quelques heures après sa performance.
