Man Utd ‘submit €25m bid’ for winger ahead of January window

Manchester United have made a bid of €25m for Atalanta winger Dejan Kulusevski, according to reports in Italy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already confirmed that United will be looking to do business in January with a striker believed to be on their list.

The Red Devils are currently sat tenth in the Premier League table with only four wins from a possible 14 this season and Man Utd supporters will no doubt be hoping to see reinforcements come through the door.

And FcInterNews (via Sport Witness) claims that United have made a €25m offer for Kulusevski which has been turned down by Serie A side Atalanta.

Kulusevski has spent the season on loan at Parma from Atalanta with three goals and five assists from 14 appearances.

President Antonio Percassi has turned down United’s first offer, saying ‘no’, with the Atalanta chief wanting closer to €35m for the on-loan winger.

Inter Milan are also understood to be interested in the 19-year-old, who recently won his first international cap for Sweden.

Solskjaer cites two transfers as he calls on Man Utd to speed up

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims Manchester United have a “a plan” after admitting that the club left it too “late” to do deals in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are currently tenth in the Premier League standings and eight points off fourth-placed Chelsea, who occupy the final Champions League place.

United were held to a 2-2 draw to Aston Villa at home on Sunday and fans will no doubt be hoping the club can bring in reinforcements over the next couple of transfer windows.

Man Utd brought in Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire in the summer with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku leaving late in the window.

And Solskjaer admits that they left some deals too “late” in the summer and they won’t make the same mistake again next year.

Solskjaer said: “We do have a clear picture of what the squad is going to look like in June/July.

“Hopefully you get as much done as soon as possible.

“With Harry coming in, Romelu going out, it was late. We do have a plan now.”

Palace boss Hodgson insists Sakho was a ‘victim of new rules’

Roy Hodgson believes Mamadou Sakho was right to be sent off but was a “victim of new interpretation of rules”.

Palace rose to fifth in the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over Bournemouth – above the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United – thanks to the victory, which was secured through Jeffrey Schlupp’s second half goal.

Schlupp had initially come on in the first half to replace the injured Patrick Van Aanholt – at a time when Mamadou Sakho had already been sent off.

Hodgson was pleased with the way his side reacted to the early adversity to get their hands on the three points.

“It was a great victory,” he told Match of the Day. “I’m full of praise for what the players did today. To firstly lose your centre-back to a challenge which the referee deems to be a red card, and then to lose a left-back in an area where we have no cover.

“The last place we could really cover injuries was at the back, but we did and I thought the players showed an outstanding attitude at the back. Normally when you win 1-0 with 10 men you think you were lucky, but that wasn’t really the case and we had a few chances of our own so I’m delighted for he players.

“The referees are now under strict instructions, if they deem a challenge to be a little bit fierce, they are encouraged to give red cards. Under the new rules, I cannot make any complaints about it and I don’t think it was an error but Mamadou was perhaps a victim of the new interpretation of the rules. We will miss him because we have centre-halves injured at the minute.

“We think we have options going forward and our passing in midfield was very good. When we were 11 v 11, I thought we were looking to play through midfield. That changed when you go down a man but we didn’t back off and we still tried to play out.

“I think if there were any more goals to be had this season, I would save them for other games. I’m more than happy with 1-0 and it was fantastic support again tonight.”

Spurs boss Mourinho rules out move for £85m Eriksen replacement

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has ruled out the prospect of signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes in January.

Reports over the summer claimed that Spurs had agreed personal terms with the Portugal playmaker following a campaign in which he scored 20 goals and laid on 13 assists.

However, it was confirmed last week that Fernandes had signed a new four-year contract at Sporting, who he joined from Sampdoria in 2017, which included an updated £85m release clause.

Speaking on the subject of Fernandes, Mourinho told Sport TV: “We are different club at this level.

“We are not a club that is going to make big transfers in the market, nor is it going towards players who are already developed or at a certain level of expectation, also economically.

“I would definitely say no because Bruno (Fernandes) is a player of a level and value that is not for us.”

The news is somewhat of a surprise given that Spurs are in the market for midfield reinforcements due to the impending exit of Christian Eriksen, who has reportedly told Mourinho that he will leave on a free when his contract runs out next summer.

'Cameras sometimes only show one side of the story' – Arsenal stars slam 'bull****' talk of ignoring mascot

Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang responded after the Gunners were criticised over their treatment of a youngster

Arsenal players Calum Chambers and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have responded to criticism over the team’s perceived slight of a mascot before Sunday’s game at Norwich.

Following the sacking of Unai Emery, interim manager Freddie Ljungberg took charge of the Gunners for the first time in the game at Carrow Road.

Arsenal managed to secure a 2-2 draw thanks to two goals from Aubameyang, but talk surrounding the game wasn’t limited to on-field affairs.

The Gunners were roundly criticised after footage spread online of the team walking past a young mascot on their way into the dressing room, with no player acknowledging the boy.

With the critics in full voice, Chambers took to Twitter on Tuesday to present a different side of the story.

“The cameras sometimes only show one side of the story,” Chambers said alongside photos of the same boy in the dressing room alongside several Arsenal stars.

“It’s always great to meet our Junior Gunners mascot in the dressing room before every match,” the defender continued. “We hope Billy had a great day at Norwich on Sunday and it was a pleasure to meet him.”

Seeing the tweet from his team-mate, Aubameyang couldn’t help but add his own two cents.

“Thanks Calum,” the striker said. “I wanted to sleep but i saw these bull***** then wanted to reply but you quicker than me so i Go back to sleep a Bit.”

The Gunners have been criticised on and off the field during a trying campaign so far that has already seen their manager dismissed.

Arsenal are in eighth place in the Premier League table, sitting seven points behind Chelsea, who occupy the fourth and final Champions League position.

With the Gunners having failed to win in the league since early October, Ljungberg has outlined a plan to fix the team’s leaky defence, a particularly glaring issue.

“We need to find solutions. If players are not super quick and we say ‘you’ve got to sprint for this or that’, that’s going to be difficult for that player,” Ljungberg said.

“In general terms, we try to put out a structure that everybody knows what to do.”

The Gunners are back in action on Thursday when they face Brighton in a Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.
