C’est le grand jour. Ce vendredi 26 juillet, Louis Ducruet épousera civilement Marie Chevallier, avant une union religieuse ce samedi 27 juillet. Un mariage pour lequel le fils de Stéphanie de Monaco a reçu la bénédiction de toute sa famille. Pourtant, ce n’était pas gagné d’avance entre Pauline Ducruet et sa future belle-soeur.

C’est jour de fête ! Ce vendredi 26 juillet, puis ce samedi 27 juillet, Louis Ducruet épousera civilement et religieusement sa chère et tendre, Marie Chevallier. Déjà sept ans que les deux tourtereaux filent le parfait amour. Et alors qu’ils s’épanouissent dans leur travail respectif, ils sont enfin prêts à passer à l’étape supérieure. Après une demande en mariage des plus romantiques, le fils de Stéphanie de Monaco et de Daniel Ducruet espère faire de ces deux journées les plus belles de sa vie.

Si sa mère est plus nerveuse que jamais à l’idée que son aîné prenne davantage son envol, il en va de même pour les sœurs du futur marié. Depuis leur plus tendre enfance, les enfants de Stéphanie de Monaco sont unis comme les doigts d’une main. Alors, forcément, voir leur grand frère quitter encore un peu plus le nid familial n’est pas si évident. Ce n’est pas Pauline Ducruet qui dira le contraire. Indépendante, elle vit entre New York, Paris et Monaco et s’apprête à devenir une créatrice de mode prisée grâce à sa griffe Alter Designs lancée en juin dernier. Il n’empêche que la ravissante jeune femme de 25 ans est attachée à son Rocher, aux siens.

Marie Chevallier en a d’ailleurs fait les frais lors de leur première rencontre. Tout c’était pourtant passé comme sur des roulettes avec sa future belle-mère et Camille Gottlieb. « Dès que maman l’a rencontrée, elle m’a dit : ‘Elle est vraiment parfaite, garde-la, ne la laisse pas partir’. Avec Camille, l’entente a été immédiate – je savais que leurs caractères colleraient tout de suite parfaitement », confiait le principal intéressé à Point de Vue en novembre 2018.

Pauline Ducruet a « fait preuve de plus de retenue »

Mais cela n’a pas été la même histoire avec Pauline Ducruet qui a « fait preuve au départ d’un peu plus de retenue », comme le dévoile Louis Ducruet. En cause ? Son côté très protectrice vis-à-vis de ceux qu’elle aime. « C’est parce qu’elle souhaitait d’abord apprendre à bien la connaître. Elle a beau être ma petite sœur, elle a toujours été très protectrice vis-à-vis de moi», confirmait le jeune homme de 26 ans. Qu’on se rassure, aujourd’hui les deux femmes s’entendent à merveille. Pauline a d’ailleurs « beaucoup d’affection pour Marie ». Tellement, qu’elle a souhaité lui faire un magnifique cadeau en lui dessinant sa robe de mariée.

Pas de doute, pour son union, Louis Ducruet compte réserver une place de taille aux membres de sa famille. Ainsi, ils seront au grand complet afin d’assister à l’échange des vœux qui se déroulera dans un lieu loin d’être anodin. Le couple a choisi de se dire « oui » à la Cathédrale de Monaco où le prince Rainier et Grace Kelly se sont mariés avant eux. Une manière pour Louis Ducruet de rendre hommage à ses grands-parents, et en particulier à son grand-père qu’il aimait tant. Un joli moment d’émotion en perspective.

La pièce de théâtre “Harry Potter et l’Enfant maudit” a battu un record lors des Olivier Awards en remportant neuf récompenses dont celles du Meilleur Acteur et de la Meilleure mise en scène.

Déjà auteur d’un triomphe commercial, la pièce Harry Potter et l’Enfant maudit, qui met en scène le célèbre héros dix-neuf ans après la fin de ses aventures, vient de battre un record lors de la dernière cérémonie des Olivier Awards. Créée en 1976, cette véritable institution britannique récompense chaque année les meilleures œuvres théâtrales, et a vu défiler lors de ses divers palmarès des noms exceptionnels tels Ian McKellen, Kevin Spacey ou encore Judi Dench.

Nommée dans onze catégories, Harry Potter et l’Enfant maudit a remporté neuf récompenses, parmi lesquelles Meilleure mise en scène, Meilleur acteur pour Jamie Parker (Harry Potter), Meilleur second rôle féminin pour Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger) ou encore Meilleure nouvelle pièce. Soit le meilleur total jamais atteint dans l’Histoire de la cérémonie !

De quoi donner des regrets aux studios Warner et à J.K. Rowling qui n’ont cessé de clamer que la pièce ne ferait pas l’objet d’une adaptation au cinéma ? Quoi qu’il en soit, Harry Potter et l’Enfant maudit devrait prochainement traverser l’Atlantique pour débarquer à Broadway, soit la moitié du chemin vers Hollywood…

La saga Harry Potter sera de retour au cinéma dès l’année prochaine avec le deuxième volet des Animaux fantastiques.

Brigitte Macron a passé le week-end du 24 août avec les épouses des chefs d’États participant au G7. Parmi elles, figurait Melania Trump, dont la Première dame semble toujours aussi proche.

Entre elles, l’entente est plus que cordiale. Depuis leur rencontre à Bruxelles en mai 2017, Brigitte Macron et Melania Trump ont tissé des liens et noué une relation complice. À chaque nouvel événement ou rencontre politique, les deux femmes ont plaisir à se retrouver.

Si elles se prêtent volontiers au jeu des photographes en posant proches et tout sourire face à l’objectif, leur entente n’est pas qu’une affaire de communication. Elles s’octroient des moments privés à deux, comme en juin dernier, lorsqu’elles ont partagé un déjeuner entre copines à Caen, loin de leurs obligations protocolaires. Ce samedi 24 août, Brigitte Macron et Melania Trump se sont retrouvées dans la ville d’Espelette, où était accueillie la délégation des conjoints des chefs d’États en amont du G7.

Lors de ce week-end, l’épouse d’Emmanuel Macron tenait à ce que les Premières dames soient ravies de leur séjour. Elle était aux petits soins pour ses homologues. Si chacune d’entre elles avait la possibilité de choisir un programme à la carte, il était d’ores et déjà annoncé que Brigitte Macron assisterait à toutes les activités aux côtés de Melania Trump. Une nouvelle preuve de leur complicité…

Une entente qui ne datent pas d’aujourd’hui

Et ce n’est pas la première fois qu’elles passent du bon temps ensemble. Le 11 novembre 2018, elle s’étaient affichées ensemble, là encore très proches, lors d’un déjeuner au Château de Versailles organisé dans le cadre des commémorations du centenaire de la fin de la Première guerre mondiale. Brigitte Macron se montrait alors très courtoise avec Melania Trump. Plus étonnant, elle a même été aperçue en train de lui glisser quelques mots à l’oreille… Dans les colonnes du Monde, l’ancienne enseignante évoquait sa relation avec la first lady américaine : « Elle est très gaie au contraire, nous avons le même humour, on rit beaucoup toutes les deux ».

En avril dernier, les deux Premières dames ont même entretenu une correspondance, signe, une fois encore, de leur proximité. Choquée par l’incendie de Notre-Dame-de-Paris, Melania Trump a pris le temps d’écrire une lettre à Brigitte Macron, au lendemain du drame. Dans celle-ci, elle évoque sa tristesse bien sûr, mais aussi les bons souvenirs qu’elle gardait de sa visite avec l’épouse d’Emmanuel Macron, en juillet 2017. Une attention délicate qui a beaucoup touché la Première dame française.

Lors de sa visite à Disneyland Paris pour la promotion de Pirates des Caraïbes : La Vengeance de Salazar, Johnny Depp a pu découvrir en exclusivité deux scènes de la nouvelle attraction “Pirates des Caraïbes” dans lesquelles Jack Sparrow apparaît.

Actuellement fermée pour rénovation, l’attraction réouvrira le 24 juillet prochain. A l’occasion des 25 ans du parc, l’attraction qui, rappelons-le, a inspiré la saga cinématographique, s’est offert une véritable cure de jouvence et réserve de nouvelles surprises. En effet, la boucle est bouclée puisque celle-ci a été remise au goût du jour en incluant des éléments des films.

L’attraction “Pirates of the Caribbean” a toujours eu une place centrale dans l’histoire des Parcs Disney : inaugurée en 1967 en Californie et dès l’ouverture de Disneyland Paris en 1992, elle est également présente à Orlando, à Tokyo et a récemment ouvert à Shanghai.

Le cinquième volet des aventures du Capitaine Jack Sparrow est en salles depuis le 24 mai.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho will not follow up Mauricio Pochettino’s interest in Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena, according to reports.

Spurs have widely been reported to be interested in bringing the 21-year-old Spaniard to White Hart Lane, with his potential arrival helping to freshen up a squad that has begun to look stale this campaign.

Alena – a product of the club’s famous La Masia academy – has graduated through the Barcelona youth ranks since joining the club as a seven-year-old, but with gametime severely restricted this term, a January move has been touted.

A report in Calciomercato in early November said Pochettino had urged Tottenham to make a move for Alena, while other reports stated that Spurs had made a proposal for Alena.

However, Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) now claims that Alena is close to moving on loan to Spanish side Real Betis despite being courted by Tottenham.

And a another report on Thursday in Sport says that Spurs’ interest was ‘intense’ during Pochettino’s days as manager but their interest ‘has cooled’ since the arrival of Mourinho.

 

Arsenal technical director Edu has recommended former team-mate Patrick Vieira as the new Arsenal boss but still has to convince the owners he is the right man, according to journalist Duncan Castles.

Vieira, who made 279 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, is one of many managers linked with the vacant role after Unai Emery was sacked at the end of last month.

The former France international started off his coaching career as Manchester City reserve team manager before taking charge of New York City FC in 2015 before joining Ligue 1 side Nice, where he is currently boss.

And Castles claims that Vieira has been “championed” by Edu as Arsenal look to narrow down their shortlist.

“The information I have is that Vieira’s candidacy for that position is being championed by Edu, Arsenal’s technical director and obviously a former team-mate of Vieira,” Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast.

“He played alongside Vieira in Arsenal’s last Premier League title-winning side.

“He has known him for a long period of time and is pushing the other people, on a four-man committee that the Kroenke family have tasked with drawing up a long list of candidates for the job and recommending who should be promoted to that job to them before the Kroenkes sign off on a decision.

“I think Josh Kroenke, it’s very clear that he’s going to be a part of that, a big part of that decision-making process.

“He’s now speaking on record about the sacking of Unai Emery, the several weeks they’d been considering that and considering replacements, even going as far as recommending to the interim, Freddie Ljungberg, that he fixed things by putting a smile on the face of the players again.

“Vieira’s candidacy is interesting because he’s 42 now, he’s quite experienced as a coach, he moved into coaching and development after retiring as a player, and did that with Manchester City back in 2011.

“Obviously if you’re looking for someone who understands Arsenal as a football club and has a status with the support and a kind of personality to come in and take charge of what is a very difficult at present, it’s quite hard to look beyond Vieira from that perspective. He ticks all of those boxes.

“The question mark is what level can he attain as a coach of a side with big financial resources, very significant players in their squad, a big wage bill, strong characters in the team and lots of problems to solve?”

Danny Murphy thinks James Maddison would definitely join Manchester United if the opportunity arose to swap Leicester City for Old Trafford.

The England international has five goals and three assists in 15 Premier League matches this season after also catching the eye last term.

That form has helped Leicester into second position in the table, with Brendan Rodgers’ side emerging as Liverpool’s nearest challengers for the league title.

Maddison has been heavily linked with a move to Man Utd with a report on Thursday claiming United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward could use their iconic No 7 shirt to lure Maddison to Old Trafford.

Murphy told Sky Sports’ The Debate: “You cannot tell me there’s a young English footballer at Leicester who will turn down United.

“Not gonna happen. If United come in for James Maddison, and pay enough, he’s gone.

“United are a big enough… I’m not a United fan, but they still have the draw. To play at Old Trafford, Theatre of Dreams, rather than the King Power Stadium, irrelevant of league position, he’s gone.”

 

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia has lifted the lid on his tumultuous relationship with Jens Lehmann that saw them embroiled in a training ground row.

The two goalkeepers battled for a place in the starting line-up following Almunia’s arrival in 2004.

Lehmann had already been at the club for a season, cementing his place as no.1 following the departure of club legend David Seaman, when Almunia was drafted in by Arsene Wenger from Celta Vigo to provide competition.

Almunia insisted that at first it was a dream working relationship.

“So when I got to Arsenal and I found this super goalkeeper, one of my idols, one of my favourite goalkeepers ever, I couldn’t believe it,” Almunia said. “I found that super-professional player with strong character, a winner and I really, really enjoyed [working with him],” Almunia told the Athletic.

Despite Wenger preferring Lehmann for much of the first few years, Almunia eventually ousted the World Cup winner in the 2007-08 season, leading to training ground bust-up before Lehmann moved elsewehre.

“The problems came when I was very excited and very fit, training well with so much energy and at that same time [Lehmann] wasn’t having his best time at Arsenal, so when Arsene Wenger decided to change the no.1… he’s a winner and he took it very badly, which is normal,” Almunia added.

“He’s a national-team goalkeeper, big name, and I’m a small goalkeeper from Spain who comes along and makes it difficult for him — he’s thinking, ‘What the hell? This is not possible?’ So yes, we had difficult moments.”

Almunia revealed he would regularly hope Lehmann would make mistakes and suggested that was “normal” between rivalling goalkeepers.

But Almunia also explained how they eventually parted on good terms after attending a club dinner with their wives.

“They [Lehmann and his wife] just started talking to us like friends, like nice people, you know? I looked at my wife like, ‘Can you believe this?’ But from that moment we had a very good relationship.”

 

The Sweden striker was the subject of abuse last month, and he says that UEFA must do more to fix the problem

Real Sociedad and Sweden forward Alexander Isak says that UEFA needs to further punish those involve in racist incidents, adding that the issue is about much more than getting racism out of football stadiums.

The striker was subjected to racist abuse as Sweden booked their spot at Euro 2020 with a 2-0 win over Romania in November, with the match halted shortly after his 78th-minute introduction because of abuse hurled from the crowd.

Isak, who was booed every time he touched the ball following the stoppage in play, reported the incident to the match referee while adding that he was “incredibly sad” following the incident.

And now, with more incidents popping up across Europe since the incident involving Isak, the 20-year-old forward says that more needs to be done both in football stadiums and as a society.

“Honestly, I don’t know what the solution can be,” Isak told reporters on Wednesday. “I think there’s a responsibility to punish people who do stuff like that.

“I think there should be serious consequences for that stuff. Something has to happen. I’m not in charge, but it’s not for me to say, but I hope something happens.”

He added: “I think that UEFA should be a lot harder with punishments, but also it’s not only about getting it away from stadiums. It shouldn’t be in this world. The problem is big, and it’s not easy to solve.”

There have been a number of incidents throughout Europe in recent weeks, prompting UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin to admit that more needs to be done to fight racism in football.

Players like Raheem Sterling and Romelu Lukaku have been outspoken critics of how those at the top of the game handle incidents and punish those involved.

While Isak says that he does not have the answers on how to do that, the Real Sociedad forward says that his way of fighting it is to continue playing on and growing as a footballer.

“For me, it’s important to focus on what’s important to me,” he said. “I do what I love. If someone tries to distract me from that, you just have to try and block it out.

“It’ s not something that should happen, but I’m pretty strong and can handle it.”

Isak has scored two goals for Real Sociedad this season, with the club currently occupying fourth place in La Liga ahead of this weekend’s clash with league-leaders Barcelona.
