Van Nistelrooy made Ronaldo cry in Man Utd training – Saha

Louis Saha has revealed the time Ruud van Nistelrooy made Cristiano Ronaldo in Manchester United training.

Van Nistelrooy had an unbelievable record of 150 goals for the Red Devils in 219 appearances for the club before leaving for Real Madrid in 2006.

There were rumours that Saha’s appearance in the League Cup final ahead of Van Nistelrooy was the final straw as the Dutchman left United for Spain but the former France international says the pair had a good relationship.

Saha told FourFourTwo: “He was always really nice with me; he maybe had a problem with the choice made by the manager, but never with me. He was obsessed about goals, and I respect that.

“I know some people said I maybe pushed him to a move away from the club, but that’s totally bollocks. He was such a good player – he just had an issue with the manager – and I was maybe good enough for the manager to replace him, but I could have played with him, too.”

And in the same interview in the new issue of FourFourTwo, Saha has claimed that Van Nistelrooy made Ronaldo cry in training at United.

“Ruud had that kind of ego: he wanted all the passes,” Saha added. “And sometimes, for the development of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, it was difficult for the manager to deal with.

“Did Ruud make Ronaldo cry? Yeah, there were stories because I think they ended up in an argument at the moment when Cristiano’s father had passed away, so it wasn’t the right moment. Things like that happen when two players have lots of spirit, but I’m sure Ruud regrets some of his words.

“Cristiano was just an animal. I don’t know if you can say that he was a human! You could see from when he was 18 or 19 that this guy was not normal.

“These players who have all the ability recognise that it’s also about working harder than anyone – not just talent. The top seeds in tennis don’t hit the ball better or have better technique; no, they work harder than anyone, and Cristiano did that.”

Man Utd’s first January signing could arrive in December

Mario Mandukic could start training with Manchester United as early as December before a move to Old Trafford in January, according to reports in Italy.

United could still do with attacking reinforcements, although only as back-up to their existing options after Marcus Rashford hit the goal trail and Anthony Martial returned from injury.

Mandzukic has still not played a single minute for Juventus this season with the Italian side remaining intent on offloading him, but getting something for their troubles.

That was previously thought to be a fee of around £10million. But claims from Calciomercato a couple of weeks ago suggested not only that Juve are ‘demanding’ half that, but that United are pursuing a free transfer.

And now Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claim that Mandzukic ‘dreams of going to Manchester United as soon as possible’ and that a deal could be ironed out in December.

The report adds that if the Croatian seals a move to United then he would like to start training with his new team-mates as soon as possible, ideally a month before he is eligible to play.

Tuttosport adds that Juventus now value Mandzukic at €4.5million and that United haven’t given up on landing the striker.

Journalist names one man ‘ready’ to replace Emery at Arsenal

Patrick Vieira is “ready” to take the reins at Arsenal if the club decide to part ways with Unai Emery, according to French football journalist Julien Laurens.

Emery retains the full support of his board for now, but that stance could change if no improvement is made on the field over the coming weeks.

In an unusual start to the Premier League season, Arsenal find themselves in only sixth place despite being above fellow giants Manchester United and Tottenham.

Arsenal have only won four of their first 12 matches this season and there has been an over reliance on new captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s goals to get points on the board.

Vieira has been an obvious name to link with the job given his history with the club and his relative success in management at New York City FC and Nice.

But Laurens thinks it is justified as the job he is doing with Ligue 1 side Nice shows he is “ready” if Arsenal come knocking.

“I think we’re still far away from Unai Emery leaving the club and having to find a replacement, but if and when it happens Patrick Vieira will be on the shortlist and rightly so,” Laurens told talkSPORT.

“He’s been very good at Nice. He arrived in a difficult environment with the club up for sale, there was a lot of uncertainty, and they finish seventh in his first campaign in charge.

“This season they are 12th in the table but only two points from fourth place in a tight Ligue 1, so there have been a lot of good things Vieira has done.

“He’s learned a lot since arriving back in Europe from New York City FC in the United States.

“I think he will certainly feel ready for this kind of challenge.

“Whether Arsenal pick him or not is a different matter, but I certainly think he will be ready and I think he looks ready.”

England 7-0 Montenegro: Rating the Euro 2020 finalists

JORDAN PICKFORD
The concern with England’s No.1 in games against opposition as weak as Montenegro is his urge to catch the eye when no one has glanced his way for a while. Handily, his centre-backs kept Pickford on his toes with two poor instances of defending forcing the Everton stopper into two first-half saves, the first superb one-handed stop to keep out Marko Simic’s header. So a clean sheet, one fine save, another simple one, and happily, no drama.

BEN CHILWELL
This second game of what has to be a sustained run of games in the England XI for the Leicester left-back and even more so than the trip to Bulgaria, this was always going to be about Chilwell’s attacking contribution rather than protecting Pickford. So three first-half assists, one for Oxlade-Chamberlain and two for Kane to put England 3-0 up, highlight a job well done. Chilwell was typically unruffled in his defensive work and he darted forward at the appropriate times, leaving space for Mount and Rashford ahead of him when need be or creating it with his runs inside off the flank. Danny Rose should be finished in this side.

JOHN STONES
His first start since June should have been comfortable one for the Manchester City defender who has had a torrid 2019. But a lapse in concentration allowed Simic a free header at Pickford’s goal before he and Harry Maguire were split in two by a straight run and a straight pass. Tyrone Mings deserved to keep the shirt after his debut in Bulgaria and the Villa defender will probably get it back after Stones demonstrated some frailty in the easiest game he might play all season.

HARRY MAGUIRE
Barring catastrophe, Maguire is assured of his place in Southgate’s XI so his first-half rick won’t harm his cause in the same way Stones’ might. Only Maguire knows where he was going when he parted from his defensive partner, seemingly covering a ghost run from the Montenegro right, but his unnecessary depth allowed Fatos Beciraj a free run at Pickford. Maguire should have claimed England’s fourth which eventually came after Rashford gathered the rebound when Milan Majatovic kept out the defender’s free-header from point-blank range.

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD
The Liverpool playmaker was not as creative as Chilwell on the opposite side but he still sneaked in an assist with a deflected cross which landed at Kane’s feet for the skipper’s hat-trick goal. Southgate was clearly learning little from Alexander-Arnold while the full-back remained shackled by his defensive responsibilities so the England boss gave him 20 minutes in a more advanced role where many presume he will eventually end up. But for now, Alexander-Arnold has to compete for the right-back spot and Kieran Trippier sat on the bench will have seen little to make him fear for the place he has worked so hard to win back.

HARRY WINKS
Tonight was made for Winks to put on a show since Montenegro neither pressed the holding midfielder, nor cut off his passing channels. His task was simple: get the ball to the five attacking players around him and never was he short of options, so we should not make too much of his 90 successful passes out of 95 attempted – only Maguire made more passes. But this stroll around Wembley together with his performance against Bulgaria must put Winks way ahead of Declan Rice in Southgate’s thinking, though we need to see the Spurs midfielder up against better opposition before we consider him a shoo-in for the Euros.

MASON MOUNT
A frustrating night and a missed opportunity for the Chelsea midfielder. Mount had around half the touches and involvement of his team-mates in England’s midfield trio but gave it away twice as often. His first-half was best summed up when he directed a simple 10-yard pass straight out of play just before half-time. In the second half, Mount was denied his first international goal by a narrow offside call before playing a part in the comical sixth by mishitting a close range volley.

ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN
The Liverpool midfielder shone on his first England start for 19 months, and his international first goal since June 2017 came within 11 minutes. Oxlade-Chamberlain made it four goals in his last five starts with a sublime first touch the prelude to a splendid driven finish. Southgate has said that the 26-year-old would have been a starter at the World Cup had injury not robbed him of the option, but the England boss will probably already have the Ox pencilled in to his midfield for the Euros, especially if he plans to persist with 4-3-3.

MARCUS RASHFORD
The Manchester United attacker has got his groove back. England’s last victory in Bulgaria offered the first signs of his revival from a poor run of club form as a centre-forward and once again on the left of a front three, Rashford’s terrorised the Montenegro defence with a mixture of lightning directness and imaginative trickery. His goal offered a glimpse of the composure he is said to lack in the box, while the comical sixth was a direct result of his drive from the left flank.

HARRY KANE
At hat-trick inside the opening 36 minutes consisting of three finishes inside the six-yard box makes Kane England’s highest goalscoring captain with 24 goals. Overall, the skipper moved up to sixth on the all-time list with a couple of embarrassingly-simple headers before a beautifully-taken third, controlling a deflected cross before pulling his finish back across an onrushing defender into the far corner. By the time his hat-trick was complete, Kane had eight touches, only one more than keeper-cum-spectator Pickford.

JADON SANCHO
With Raheem Sterling absent, this was Sancho’s opportunity to put some club struggles behind him and the Borussia Dortmund flier, England’s youngest player in their youngest starting XI since 1959, will reflect on the evening with mixed emotions. Winty asked whether his price tag represented value for a player who plays in flashes and that’s what England got tonight. Sancho started well, creating the game’s first chance with a low ball in but he had to wait until England’s seventh before being involved in a goal. We can’t forget that Sancho is still a teenager but Southgate will be looking for more evidence that he can knit his moments together with consistency if he gets the nod in Kosovo on Sunday.

Substitutes

JAMES MADDISON (for Oxlade-Chamberlain for 56)
A debut, perhaps belatedly, for the Leicester schemer and Maddison was clearly keen to show Southgate that he can fit in, rather than stand out. The midfielder got within five passes of Mount in half the time on the pitch but Maddison finished with a 68 per cent pass completion rate – comfortably the lowest among the England players.

TAMMY ABRAHAM (for Kane 56)
The Chelsea forward replaced Kane with a similar performance – minimal involvement but maximum impact when the ball dropped his way in the box. Abraham’s first senior goal was be one of the simplest he scores for the Three Lions but the Chelsea striker will be relieved to get off the mark.

JOE GOMEZ (for Mount 70)
Came off the bench to some boos – really?! – so that Southgate could take a look at Alexander-Arnold in a more advanced role. Had little defending to worry about and did not misplace a single one of his 19 passes. Hardly an eye-catching performance but after the week the Liverpool defender has had so far, that will suit him just fine.

Kim Kardashian’s Doctors Warn Her of Third Pregnancy Dangers

A third pregnancy may not be in the cards for Kim Kardashian West. On Sunday’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the 36-year-old revealed that although she wants desperately to have another child, her previous health complications have her worried. “Obviously I do want to have my own baby, but I feel like I truly don’t know if my body can handle it one more time,” she told her older sister Kourtney.

To learn more about the potential health risks that could result from a third pregnancy, Kim and her mom Kris consulted with two doctors.

“You never know if you might have the same type of problem that could be more serious this time,” her ob-gyn warned her. “You’re always taking a little bit of a chance. There are situations where retained placenta could be life or death.”

“You could bleed to death,” Kris added.

The second doctor, a fertility specialist, agreed and advised the reality star to consider using a surrogate—an option she hadn’t considered before. “If the two doctors, that I trust, have told me it wouldn’t be safe for me to get pregnant again, I have to listen to that,” Kim said during her interview.

Later in the episode Kim met with a mother who had used a surrogate to assuage her fears. “My bond with my kids is so strong,” she told the woman. “I think my biggest fear is that if I had a surrogate is, would I love them the same? That’s the main thing I keep thinking about.” But she assured her that won’t be an issue.

Austrian GP: Sunday’s action in pictures

There’s no doubt that Sunday’s thrilling Austrian Grand Prix went a long way towards healing the negative sentiment towards the sport after last week’s lethargic procession in France. Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc’s frantic scrap was exactly what the doctor ordered.

Here’s a recap in pictures from an electrifying day at the races.
