Bella Hadid Says Her Biggest Success Is Her Health and Mental State

Bella Hadid maintains she’s feeling better than ever before. And she’s bringing that sense of balance and confidence into the new year.

When the supermodel, 22, was asked what she considers her biggest career success to be during an interview for Vogue‘s 73 Questions series, Hadid didn’t mention a high-fashion couture runway show or major photo shoot.

Instead, the star said, “Probably my health and mental state right now.”

Hadid recently opened up about self-acceptance for Love Magazine’s special all-video issue, and faced backlash from body shamers who called out the model for looking too slim.

In the video clip, Hadid wore a variety of revealing one-piece bathing suits that show off her frame and prominent hip bones.

Some social media users objected to Hadid saying she feels healthy now in the lengthy journey to self-acceptance, writing that she looked like she was “withering away to bones” in the clip.

“This is truly sad,” wrote one Instagram user. “She’s talking about self-acceptance as she’s withering away to bones. The modeling industry is barbaric and disgusting with its ‘beauty’ standards.”

Many other social media users simply wrote that Hadid looked “way too thin” and was “skin and bone[s].”

Despite the wave of negative comments, other commenters spoke up in defense of Hadid, writing that no matter what somebody looks like, body shaming is never okay.

“Body shaming isn’t right !!” wrote one fan, adding that only Hadid knows what’s healthy for her. “When you don’t know the story or the person don’t judge.”

Just one month earlier, Hadid dealt with backlash again after sharing a photo of herself in lingerie at a fitting for the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

In the photos, which featured Hadid modeling knee-high snakeskin boots, plus a black push-up bra and high-waisted underwear set, some commenters said they find her shots “disturbing.”

“Skin and bone. That second page is quite frankly disturbing,” one commenter wrote. “I have nothing against being slim but this is unhealthy on so many levels. Shame on @victoriassecret for encouraging and promoting this totally unrealistic image. We must put an end to the concept of looks = value.”

Hadid didn’t reply to commenters directly, but she altered her original caption of the photo with a reaction to the backlash.

“@victoriassecret fittings todayi can’t wait for you to see all of the beautiful outfits …i’m so grateful to be a part of the show again, feeling happier and healthier than ever (all body types are different and react differently to a great workout routine and a healthy diet️

But days later when People caught up with the model backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, she said she felt like her healthiest and strongest self ever, after being diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in early 2012.

“You have to have such a great mental state when you’re going into this,” Hadid told us. “I’ve been really sick for the past few years, and it was really hard for me to fully experience the whole show and have fun with it and be excited. This year I really just feel like I am myself again and happy and healthy in all aspects of my life.”

She added, “I am just really happy. Your mental state is honestly the biggest part about the whole process and the body kind of comes with being excited to work out.”

Katy Perry Is Removing Shoes from Shelves Following Blackface Concerns

Katy Perry is reportedly removing two shoe styles from her eponymous footwear collection from shelves following blackface concerns.

TMZ first reported that the singer would be removing the Ora Face Block Heel and the Rue Face Slip On Loafers (each priced at $129) from retailers like Dillards and Walmart after shoppers complained of the black colorways’ resemblance to blackface. (The shoe also comes in a beige colorway.) A representative to Perry issued the following statement to InStyle on behalf of the singer and Global Brands Group:

“The Rue and The Ora were part of a collection that was released last summer in 9 different colorways (black, blue, gold, graphite, lead, nude, pink, red, silver) and envisioned as a nod to modern art and surrealism. I was saddened when it was brought to my attention that it was being compared to painful images reminiscent of blackface. Our intention was never to inflict any pain. We have immediately removed them from Katy Perry Collections.”

The comparison comes days after the fashion world’s latest blackface scandal, when Gucci came under fire for selling an $890 sweater with large red lips that also resembled the derogatroy blackface makeup. The fashion brand has since issued an apology for the mask and removed the product from shelves.

Harlem-based designer Dapper Dan, who had a collaboration with the Italian design house, issued his own statement in which he pledged to hold Gucci’s team accountable for their actions. “I am a Black man before I am a brand,” he tweeted on Monday. “There cannot be inclusivity without accountability. I will hold everyone accountable.”

Prada, too, faced accusations of racism after a shopper noticed the “Pradamalia” trinket in a store window display in New York bore a strong likeness to blackface. The Italian fashsion house also issued an apology and pledged to diversify its staff in an effort to be more conscious of its product’s appearance.

Of course, fashion is hardly the only place where blackface is making waves. Earlier this month, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam admitted to dressing up in blackface after photos from his college yearbook of two men — one dressed in blackface, the other dressed in a Ku Klux Klan robe — surfaced. He first apologized for the image, then denied being in it at all, before admitting that he had dressed in blackface for a Michael Jackson costume.

A source told TMZ that Perry never intended the shoes to be offensive or racist, but decided to pull the shoes “in order to be respectful and sensitive.”

Perry has previously been accused of appropriating culture. In 2017 she apologized for her decision to wear cornrows in her “This Is How We Do” music video, as well as for her costume choice for the 2013 American Music Awards, where she dressed as a geisha.

“I didn’t know that I did it wrong until I heard people saying that I did it wrong,” she said. “It takes someone to say, out of compassion, out of love, ‘Hey, this is what the origin is’.”

Lori Loughlin’s Daughter Olivia Jade Said Fashion Designer Father ‘Faked His Way’ Through College

Days before Lori Loughlin and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, were arrested for allegedly participating in a college admissions cheating scam to get their two daughters into college, their youngest, popular YouTuber Olivia Jade Giannulli spoke out about her dad’s former college experience in which he “faked” his way through his education.

During an interview with the Zach Sang Show posted on March 8, Olivia Jade, 19, said that she looks to her dad – who created the fashion line Mossimo – for “inspiration.”

“He didn’t come from a lot so it’s cool to see that he built it all himself,” she said. “He, like, built his whole entire brand and he wasn’t actually, like, I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this, ever enrolled in college. But he, like, faked his way through it and then he started his whole business with tuition money that his parents thought was going to college. That’s, like, such a different time. I don’t know if I was supposed to say that, but it’s okay.”

In addition, the influencer said fans often message her on social media asking for advice about the college admissions process.

“It’s the coolest thing getting DMs from girls being like ‘I’m applying to college right now, what did you do?’ It’s fun!” she said.

And while Olivia Jade said she loves school, she admitted that it was her parents who pushed her into pursuing higher education at the University of Southern California, where she is a freshman, despite her booming social media career.

“Mostly my parents wanted me to go because both of them didn’t go to college. I’m so happy they made me go. That sounds so terrible, they didn’t make me,” she said. “My sister [Isabella Rose] goes to the same school and we are pretty much inseparable, so it was nice following in her footsteps in a little bit. I do like it.”

Loughlin, 54, and Giannulli are among dozens charged in an alleged college admissions scam involving elite colleges and universities including Yale, Georgetown, the University of Southern California and Stanford. The duo allegedly paid $500,000 to make it appear that their daughter had been a rower, the indictment states. (Olivia Jade is not currently listed on the USC women’s rowing roster. It’s unclear if she was aware of the alleged scheme, and she was not charged.)

Both Loughlin and Giannulli were arrested this week on a felony charge of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. Giannulli appeared in federal court on Tuesday and was released after posting a $1 million bond. Loughlin made her first appearance in federal court on Wednesday in Los Angeles where a judge set her bond at $1 million, according to the Associated Press.

On Thursday, Loughlin was dropped from all Hallmark Channel productions amid the scandal.

In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, the network said, “We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations.”

“We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including Garage Sale Mysteries, an independent third party production,” the statement continued.

The actress has become a staple on the channel over the years, starring in numerous movies, TV shows and specials. She is currently starring as a series regular on Hallmark’s drama When Calls the Heart, which is currently in its sixth season. A representative for Hallmark told PEOPLE that the series will not air on Sunday, March 17.

In addition, Olivia Jade is losing sponsorships as well, including her partnership with Sephora and TRESemmé.

Olivia collaborated with Sephora’s in-house beauty brand, Sephora Collection, to launch the Olivia Jade x Sephora Collection Bronze & Illuminate Palette in December 2018. The palette is currently listed as “out of stock” on Sephora’s website.

R. Kelly Sure Seemed a Lot Like Brett Kavanaugh in This Interview

America watched a grown man scream and cry and completely disassemble on national television Wednesday morning over the idea that he — a powerful 52-year-old celebrity — may now have to face a consequence for his alleged sexual abuse of teenage girls dating back to the ‘90s.

Journalist Gayle King interviewed an unhinged R. Kelly on CBS This Morning, confronting him about the allegations of physical, emotional and sexual violence that have been piling up against him for decades. Kelly spent the interview lashing out at King, interrupting her, weeping, and even jumping out of his chair at one point as he vehemently denied the charges she calmly outlined against him.

“Stop it. You all quit playing!” Kelly shouted at King and the camera through a wobbly voice. “Quit playing! I didn’t do this stuff! This is not me! I’m fighting for my f—ing life! Y’all killing me with this sh—! I gave you 30 years of my f—ing career!”

RELATED: A Body Language Expert Talks R. Kelly’s “Frightening” Interview with Gayle King

Kelly faces up to 70 years in prison for allegedly sexually abusing four women beginning in 1998, three of whom were underage at the time. He pleaded “not guilty” in February to 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and told King all the women are lying to try and ruin him.

“I have been assassinated,” he shrieked. “I have been buried alive.”

Kelly’s tone — even specific words — felt eerily familiar to any of the 20 million people who watched Brett Kavanaugh melt down before the Senate Judiciary Committee in September when confronted with a decades-old sexual assault allegation. Both men alternated between desperate tears and indignant rage, painting themselves as the true victims of a conspiracy to curtail their power and snatch away the privilege and immunity they feel they are owed as wealthy, successful public figures.

Kavanaugh, too, called himself the victim of a “grotesque and coordinated character assassination” and lamented that his good name had been “permanently destroyed” after a trembling Dr. Christine Blasey Ford gave a detailed account to senators of the time Kavanaugh allegedly cupped his hand over her mouth and tried to rape her when they were both in high school.

Ironically, in trying to defend themselves, both Kelly and Kavanaugh exhibited classic abusive behavior. Kavanaugh contorted his face into a snarl and raised his voice to a threatening boom in a Senate hearing room. Kelly repeatedly punched his fist into his hand, stood up hovering over the woman interviewing him as she tried to de-escalate the situation. They both lashed out and played the victim. They both gaslighted, insisting that the viewers must be crazy for even entertaining the idea that they had perpetrated any abuse.

“Why would I… That’s stupid!” Kelly admonished King. “Use your common sense!”

Kavanaugh attributed the accusation against him to “revenge on behalf of the Clintons and millions of dollars in money from outside left-wing opposition groups,” and then threatened that the whole nation would face consequences for his suffering.

“You sowed the wind for decades to come,” he warned Democratic senators. “The whole country will reap the whirlwind.”

For Kavanaugh, the display of menacing rage seems to have worked, convincing enough people of his credibility and victimhood that he escaped any real consequences. Kelly, who is awaiting trial, seems to have followed the same playbook, hoping the sheer power of his male rage and the intensity of his reaction might be enough to exonerate him. But he nearly incriminated himself with his own erratic behavior.

VIDEO: Twitter is Impressed with How Gayle King Handled R. Kelly’s Meltdown

“I’m trying to have a relationship with my kids! And I can’t do it!” he shouted. “Y’all just don’t want to believe the truth! You don’t want to believe it!”

RELATED: R. Kelly Came for Lady Gaga in His Interview with Gayle King

It’s clear why Kavanaugh and Kelly are so indignant. Donald Trump ascended to the presidency after being accused by a dozen women of sexual harassment and assault and even bragging about it on tape. Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby got away with raping women for decades before the #MeToo movement started to hold them and others accountable. It was true until now that a Yale Law degree, or enough money, or enough Billboard number-one hits could innocculate a man against a sexual assault accusation.

Kelly’s and Kavanaugh’s public meltdowns are the death rattle of a long-enjoyed sense of entitlement. Powerful men are getting fired now and sent to prison, or at least having to publicly confront the accusations against them. Women less powerful than them are being believed.

Of course, it still helps to be white. While men like Kavanaugh have long been given the benefit of the doubt against their female accusers, black men have their own separate history of being falsley accused of various crimes and jailed (or worse) for no reason. In a country grappling with racism, Kelly can’t as easily rant and rave on national television and garner the same kind of sympathy that some felt for Brett Kavanaugh.

After all, Kavanaugh ascended to the highest court in the land just a week after Blasey Ford’s emotional testimony against him. The difference for Kelly is that he’s probably heading to jail.

Kim Kardashian Just Threw Shade at the Fast Fashion Empire

With great sartorial power comes great responsibility.

Kim Kardashian knows exactly what she’s doing every time she posts a photo or makes an appearance — and honestly, she thinks it’s kind of funny.

The mother of three (soon to be four) was recently “going through old fitting pics” (yeah, same) when she came across a photo of herself in a gold lame gown designed by her husband, Kanye West.

“Going through old fitting pics & found this gold look that Kanye made for me for my Miami trip last summer (I went w the neon vibes instead),” she began her caption, concluding her thought with a call-out to the knock-off empire: “P.S. fast fashion brands, can you please wait until I wear this in real life before you knock it off? ”

Kim Kardashian’s impact on the fashion world can’t be denied. When you’re one of the most visible women in the world, your style will find its way onto at least a couple designer vision boards.

Diet Prada recently illustrated the Kardashian effect with a helpful graphic, explaining that it’s typically a matter of weeks before a Kar-Jenner-approved design lends its integrity to a modified (and much, much) cheaper version at a fast fashion brand like Pretty Little Thing or Fashion Nova.

Though “knock-off” can feel like a dirty word, fast fashion brands that allow us plebs to live out our wardrobe fantasies like an Ariana Grande song.

Kate Middleton Follows Meghan Markle’s Lead in Carolina Herrera

She offset her jacket’s fitted style with loose waves and drop earrings. Meanwhile, her royal counterpart Meghan maintained her laid-back style with a messy bun and diamond studs. One designer, two completely different looks.

Kate and Prince William kicked off their two-day trip at Windsor Park Stadium in Belfast, where they learned about the Irish Football Association’s community soccer projects. Later in the day, the couple will visit the Roscor Youth Village and Empire Music Hall to enjoy a performance by the band LARKS.

In Defense of This Is Us‘s Most Underrated Character, Miguel

As per the incredibly on the nose title “The Waiting Room,” this week’s episode of This Is Us took place where we left off with the Pearsons as they awaited news about Kate’s premature labor.

And instead of a predictably taut emotional waiting game interspersed with clips of a teary-eyed Jack Pearson cradling a newborn Kate, we got something else entirely.

In the titular waiting room, an on-edge and newly wagon-fallen Kevin tried to pick a fight with just about everyone: Randall, Madison, his sister’s doctor; while Randall and Beth continued to bicker over how to keep their daughters properly cared for without the latter putting her career on hold; Rebecca puzzled over aesthetic details Rain Man style; and Miguel asked the age-old question: What food can’t be made better by either chocolate or ranch?

NBC

Jack was physically absent from “The Waiting Room,” a surprising move from a show that pulls the “beloved late father figure” card at every emotional turn. Instead, we got the universal Pearson plan B: Miguel.

We get it — when you have the world’s greatest father (who maybe, kind of had some issues you choose to suppress), you don’t want to settle for dad’s friend who swooped in on your mom in the aftermath of his death, but let me tell you, Miguel deserves more.

Every extended member of the family is treated with more respect than Miguel (Toby, Beth, even Kevin’s relatively new girlfriend, Zoe). In fact, Miguel is so undervalued by not only the characters but the show itself that I couldn’t even find a recent photo of him on the press site — the best I could do was a shot from an October 2018 episode.

NBC

Though the waiting room gathering was a tough situation to defuse, Miguel was the only person who was unselfishly trying. And OK, the “chocolate/ranch” game was dumb (sushi does not taste better with ranch, I refuse to believe it), but it was better than what everyone else was doing: feeling sorry for themselves (which they all do quite a bit, in case you hadn’t noticed).

But Miguel isn’t the only unsung hero of Us — the episode’s alleged focal point, Kate, served as more of a plot device than anything this episode. Her truly frightening medical situation was leveraged into a platform for the other characters to air their grievances, and for Mandy Moore to deliver a sobering performance as Rebecca recalls sitting in a similar waiting room when she was told Jack had died.

I’m of the mind that Chrissy Metz is the best actor on the series, so to give her only one scene (albeit an incredibly moving one) in an episode that should be all about her feels like a network television crime.

Justice 4 Kate, and perpetual afterthought Miguel.

Khloé Kardashian Just Called Jordyn Woods a Liar

Minutes after Jordyn Woods tearfully bared her soul (and the full tale of the alleged Tristan Thompson cheating scandal) on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk Facebook Watch series, Khloé Kardashian shared her own reaction — and it was STRONG.

After more than a week without direct comment on the media-fueled situation, Kardashian tweeted, “Why are you lying @jordynwoods ?? If you’re going to try and save yourself by going public, INSTEAD OF CALLING ME PRIVATELY TO APOLOGIZE FIRST, at least be HONEST about your story. BTW, You ARE the reason my family broke up!”

During the Red Table Talk, Woods said she didn’t think the kiss she shared with Thompson was responsible for his and Kardashian’s breakup. “I know I’m not the reason,” she told Smith. “This situation may have made it easier for her not to want to be with him, but I know I’m not the reason.”

Tiem’s up: Chelsea finally offload midfield flop Bakayoko

Tiemoue Bakayoko has returned to former club Monaco on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

The 25-year-old France midfielder joined the Blues from the then-Ligue 1 champions in July 2017 but struggled to make an impression and was sent on loan to AC Milan for the 2018-19 campaign.

He is now back at the Stade Louis II, where he will reunite with head coach Leonardo Jardim and Cesc Fabregas, with whom he played in Chelsea’s FA Cup final-winning team of 2018.

Monaco announced Bakayoko’s arrival on Saturday evening and revealed they have an option to buy the one-cap France international from Frank Lampard’s side.
