‘Four names on Solskjaer wishlist’ as he looks for early deals

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to make all of his summer transfers before the players jet off on their pre-season tour, according to reports.

United had a resurgence after sacking Mourinho and appointing Solskjaer, who won 14 of his 19 games while in caretaker charge of the club, but it is now eight defeats in his last 12 matches, highlighting the scale of the rebuilding job ahead in the summer.

As part of that rebuilding job, the Norwegian is looking for young, hungry players that can make the step up with a number of surprising names linked to United in recent weeks.

The Sun claims that Solskjaer’s plan is ‘to have his squad in place when he returns to training at the start of July’.

The report adds that there are four players in particular that Solskjaer is looking at including Daniel James, whose £15million transfer should be wrapped up next month.

Sean Longstaff is another named by The Sun, with The Telegraph saying on Wednesday that an offer for the midfielder is expected before the weekend.

The other two names are Stoke City’s Nathan Collins and Norwich City’s Ben Godfrey, who both play centre-back for their respective clubs.

PREM TRIO AMONG JAMES’ SUITORS
Jorge Mendes is getting to work on finding James Rodriguez a new club so, of course, the Premier League big-hitters are getting dragged into it.

James is coming to the end of a two-year loan stay at Bayern Munich and though the Bundesliga champions have the option to make him a permanent signing for £37million, it seems neither the club nor the player are too keen on extending their relationship.

So the Colombia star will return to Real Madrid, where he will be immediately shown the door again. The Mirror reckons this has alerted the attention of Liverpool , Manchester United, Arsenal, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, which gives the 27-year-old a lot of attractive offers which his form hasn’t really warranted.

SPURS’ ASENSIO ENQUIRY REBUFFED
Real are rather less prepared to let Marco Asensio leave the Bernabeu.

Apparently, Tottenham have been in touch to enquire about the Spain international but AS reports that the answer was abrupt: to sign Asensio, it will cost Spurs €700million to meet his release clause.

The biggest revelation perhaps is that “Mauricio Pochettino is passionately in love with Asensio” but the 23-year-old doesn’t feel the same way. He’s just as keen to stay at Real as Zinedine Zidane is to keep him.

MAN UTD LINKED WITH SEVEN MORE
Let’s check in at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to get things moving and The Sun reckons he wants four players in sharpish.

But the Daily Mail reckons United have cooled their interest in Aaron Wan-Bissaka after being quoted silly money for the Crystal Palace right-back. Instead, they will go for Thomas Meunier who doesn’t seem too fussed where he plays next season.

Perhaps Meunier could share a lift to Manchester with Adrien Rabiot. The PSG midfielder is out of contract this summer and the Manchester Evening News claims United are “still monitoring” the 24-year-old. That might be tricky given Rabiot hasn’t played since December. And Ed Woodward is leaving it late if he hasn’t already made a firm approach.

Woodward is apparently acting more decisively over Matthijs De Ligt. United apparently offered the Ajax captain £12million a year to join this summer but Sport claims the Red Devils have gone even higher, which is wonderful news for Mino Raiola and his attempt to squeeze more money out of Barcelona.

AND THE REST
Arsenal want to Ryan Fraser but Bournemouth are demanding £30m…Newcastle are eyeing CSKA Moscow right-back Mario Fernandes… Inter Milan will offer £30m plus Ivan Perisic for Romelu Lukaku… Man City want £15m for midfielder Fabian Delph… Leeds are keen to bring Delph back to Elland Road… Napoli are favourites for Kieran Trippier… Arsenal are among the clubs chasing Reading striker Danny Loader… Fulham are looking at Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle and Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga to replace Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Bayern president confirms interest in City winger Sane

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has confirmed that the Germans are working on a deal to bring Manchester City’s Leroy Sane to the Allianz Arena.

A recent report in the Daily Record recently claimed that Bayern ‘have been granted permission’ to speak to the City winger, who has not played perhaps as much as he might have expected this season.

The report added that City have taken a ‘pragmatic’ stance on the 23-year-old. They ‘would prefer to retain’ him but accept that his ongoing refusal to extend a contract that expires in 2021 will eventually harm his value.

And Sane is ‘unhappy with his status’ so City could cut their losses.

When asked about Sane recently, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic told Sport Bild: “I don’t comment on names.”

“We will try to do something for the new season, so we must also clarify how much money we have available for it.”

However, Hoeness has now confirmed that the Bavarians are interested in the Germany international.

“We are dealing with this player,” Hoeness told Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
