Diallo to conclude £37m Man United move in January

Amad Diallo has been granted a passport so he can now complete his £37.2m move from Atalanta to Manchester United in January, according to reports in Italy.

The 18-year-old broke into the Italian side’s first team last season. He scored in his Serie A debut in October 2019 against Udinese. This made him the first-ever player born in 2002 to score in Italy’s top flight.

Diallo was due to sign for Parma, but as that deal collapsed, Man United swooped to secure his services. The Red Devils agreed to sign the youngster on deadline day in October.

Man United had been pursuing Jadon Sancho throughout the summer. But they could not agree on a fee with Borussia Dortmund, so the move was not completed.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then turned his attention to Diallo. A deal was agreed with Atalanta on the final day of the transfer window.

The transfer is worth just over £37m. It is set to be completed subject to the player being granted a work permit.

When the deal was first agreed, Man United hoped that the player could travel to conclude the deal in January 2021.

This now looks a lot more likely. Sky Italy have reported that Diallo has now been granted a passport that will enable him to travel to Manchester next month.

So with Spurs looking to recover, Leeds looking for satisfaction, Southampton looking to keep going and Arsenal looking for just literally anything, you could call this a Big Weekend.
