Arsenal ‘won’t let Aubameyang play again’ after airport chaos

Gabon manager Patrice Neveu claims Arsenal won’t let Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang represent his country again, and he doesn’t blame them.

The Arsenal captain – along with his international teaammates – was forced to sleep at Banjul International Airport following an administrative error ahead of their African Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia on Monday.

The 31-year-old said he only got a few hours sleep on the airport floor before Gabon lost 2-1, leaving them second in their AFCON qualifying group.

And Neveu says Arsenal’s concern over the treatment of their star striker is justified, and fears they will not permit him to join up with the national team in the future.

“Arsenal called Pierre-Emerick. After seeing him in those conditions, it’s over…” he told Canal+ (via Sports Mole). “They won’t let him come again, and it will be the same for players from other clubs.

“It’s understandable. They are high level players and when they come on international duty, they need to have a minimum of comfort.

“All the players tried to sleep on the airport floor. Imagine if Aubameyang, a player who costs more than €1m a month, gets injured. [Arsenal] can be annoyed after what’s happened, to make a player sleep the floor.”

Just about all of the greatest uncapped Premier League players ever were pursued by England. And only four of them were English.
